Please be honest. Why are you voting for that candidate? Will you vote with the same party you have in the past?

  1. Life-long Democrat here, after Hillary was striped of the nomination and the DNC gave it to the inexperienced, unknown Barry Soetoro, I decided to go with McCain and the Republicans.

    MCCAIN / PALIN '08

  2. I am voting for John McCain because I want to give him the office he deserved 8 years ago.  He isn't making outrageous, fiscally irresponsible, promises that he can't possibly keep. (which is what Bush I and II have done, and what I feel Barack Obama is doing in his speeches).  And he never has.  I have always voted Republican except one time, when I voted for Edwards in the 2004 primaries.

  3. I actually looked at the voting record of the two major candidates and found that one shares my opinions on the issues that are most important to me.

Note that I said "voting record", not speeches, commercials, soundbites, and slogans.

  4. I've always been a republican and will vote for McCain in this next election.  However, I do consider the other candidates, but the democrat ways don't seem fix anything - sometimes I think their ways would hurt this country.  For instance:

Health care:  Universal health care might work for other countries, but it certainly won't work for the U.S.  The problem right now is the fact that health care is unlike the typical product or service - it does not follow supply/demand - and it needs to!  We need information... the prices doctors charge, the quality of the work doctors do.  Prices are ridiculous and we're being charged high prices for poor quality work - because we don't have the information to make the right decision.

Minimum wage:  Raising the minimum wage is NOT going to help anything - it'll just make things worse.  The raise in wages cuts into company profits, leading the company to either cut jobs or raise the prices of their products/services.  If they raise the price of their product/service and minimum wage goes up, what happens?  You're back to where you started again... with less jobs.  I also want to point out that raising the minimum wage allows the government to take more in terms of taxes you have to pay.

Really, the democrats THINK things will make everything perfect, but they never consider the consequences.

  5. I'm a first time voter (due to my age) for Obama.

Bush has ruined this country enough, I'm not about to help McCain do the same.

  6. i always vote straight republican ticket, so thats the reason to both

  7. I have always voted Democratic.  I had thought that if McCain got the nomination, I would really have to think about it.  But a) he's has so obviously caved to the religious right now; and b) he has now selected this partisan pit bull as his running mate.  All snarky sound-bites because they don't have one fresh idea.

Yeah, the decision got a lot easier once the convention started.

  8. I'd like to know how you all think "Bush has ruined this country." America is still as great as it ever was!!

No Obama because he voted to deny medical care to infants who inadvertently survive late term abortions--even though they are no risk to the mother's health. He is a socialist who wants to raise taxes on businesses, causing them to move overseas. He wants FORCE people to give THEIR time and money to charity, taking away personal freedom!

Not to mention Obama's a black supremacist!

    Obama makes fun of christians!

Obama wants to dismantle our military

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl32Y7wDV...

    BAIPA

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HRFqmlZE...

He said, "White folks greed runs a world in need!"

McCain has a record of service and has risked his life for his country! He has more government experience than Obama. Obama hasn't done ONE THING for this country.  He defends the unborn.

I prefer Ron Paul, but Paul hasn't got a chance.

  9. I guess I have been moved by a man of character. Who has been tested and realizes he is only human.

A man who still loves humans and will be humble in the presence of God.

He, like me, is only a simple man.

  10. Anyone who votes for a party is an imbecile.

Young voters...please take a look at the carter years, Obama's "plans" are all failed policies of the carter administration. We DO NOT want to relive that!

I am voting for Mccain becuse sadly he is the better choice.  He is not the same as Bush, it will not be a repeat of Bush and his eight years...

I am not happy about it...but I love my country more than I dislike John Mccain

  11. I am not a registered democrat OR repulican.  I am independent.

I have voted in every presidential election since Jimmy Carter.

I have voted for a democrat candidate probably just as many times as I have voted for a Libertarian candidate.

I am not a One-Issue voter, nor do I vote based on gender.  I vote for the BEST possible candidate offered to us.  Unfortunately, they are slim pickin's year after year...but hey, I still vote.  I have never voted republican because I can never agree with ANY of their policies or ideals.

Now, I'm not "wild" about Obama and I don't know that much about Biden.  But I DO know I dont want McCain  (aka; McBush) nor his religiously handicapped VP pick running the country...

I think McCain is a war monger, and too old.  I think he's a typical rich fat-cat republican who doesn't know what it's like to live on 20k a year... or less.  I think he's clueless (and couldn't care less) about the environment.

I think he would be just another 4 or 8 years of BUSH politics that this country can't survive through!  (Even though I doubt HE'll survive that long); and that Palin nutbag is even scarier...

    Obama gets my vote.

  12. I've already decided neither major candidate gets my vote this year.

As I read & research the sort of people backing both parties (and candidates) the more it turns into a real horror story.

People who have decided from the go (even before there were candidates to be picked) who they intend to vote for without having done any research or study have not only shown themselves to be brutish and moronic but also ultimately unworthy of living in the ideal that this nation was built on.

  13. no i dont vote for a party just the man.---i will vote for McCain---obama is a better speaker than McCain but i dont like what i hear

  14. I'm Voting for McCain because He is  the Only Man who has Fought for this Country that we Call Home, Because he is the only man who when presented with early release as a POW he chose to stay, that speak volumes to me about his Character, I vote for him because if our country were faced with dangers of Terror I would want him in the trenches with me not Obama, I vote for McCain because he is the only Man qualified for the job and because his VP nominee is more qualified than Obama

    CAPITAL GAINS TAX

    MCCAIN

0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

    OBAMA

28% on profit from ALL home sales.  (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

    DIVIDEND TAX

    MCCAIN

    15% (no change)

    OBAMA

39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

    INCOME TAX

    MCCAIN

    (no changes)

    Single making 30K - tax $4,500

    Single making 50K - tax $12,500

    Single making 75K - tax $23,250

    Married making 60K - tax $16,800

    Married making 75K - tax $21,000

    Married making 125K - tax $38,750

Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

    INHERITANCE TAX

    MCCAIN

    - 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

    OBAMA

    Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

    NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.  New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)  New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

  15. I'm always democrat, unless the democrat running is not looking to really help, but add damage to the last 8 years. If I wasn't for a certain democrat I wouldn't vote at all unless there's a Republican who really will help the sick and poor. That all being said, I am voting this year because for once in a long time, it looks promising for everyone of all races, health, and financial statuses, not to mention a better resolution to the wars. It would be great if Independents could run alongside dems and reps because it gives people more options, and hopefully less general hate. Everyone has a right to their opinion, that's just mine.

Thumbs me down please, it'll make my day:)

  16. Here is what I like about Obama. The guy in brilliant, graduating at the top of your class from Harvard Law is a feat. I have a law degree, and let me tell you, it is no easy thing. He is young and full of energy. He is charismatic and has the ability to inspire people to act, which I think is important in a president (Look at Kennedy). He looks and acts presidential, which is important for our image in the world. He is not entrenched in Washington or in the back pockets of corporations and special interest groups...most of his donations come from thousands of individuals so I don't feel like he has a lot of favors to pay back. He is in touch with the average people, as he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. I also think its time for the country to swing back the other way a little. 8 years under Bush have been more than enough.

  17. McCain.

Obama is just such a horrible candidate that there's no other choice.

  18. This time around it's really more about who I'm not voting for and that is Obama.  I like McCain as a person, but he really isn't a conservative.  I believe McCain, all things considered, is better for the Country than the alternative.   I love Sarah Palin.  She will make a great vp and can't wait until she has her shot at the presidency.

  19. Obama:

    pro choice

    anti militarism

no privatization of Soc. Sec. which McCain will

consult & negotiate with force a distance last option, unlike shoot from the hip McCain

proper funding for no child left behind

    merit pay for teacher excellence

no taxes for most on soc. sec. & tax cuts for middle class

an end to dependence on foreign oil

    supports stem cell research

    more funding for police

rebuild industries that create and KEEP jobs in U.S.

these are just SOME of the reasons I support Se. Obama and no,I'm not voting for the same party.

as an "unaffiliated" [ aka independent ] voter,I supported R. Nader both times, voted for J.Carter,R.Nixon among others but generally speaking, support local & state republicans

  20. I am voting for Obama for the same reason I voted for Gore, his environmental plan is the best out there right now.  Additionally his health care plan is better as well.  I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia last year am unable to afford much need medicine because I can't afford health insurance.  Obama's health care plan best suits my needs.

  21. Obama. I'm pro-choice, I think if the republicans want to curve abortion then they need to create more options for woman, and I think there need to be exceptions. In cases such as pregnancy as a result from child abuse, rape, incest, they should definitely have a choice. Unless pro-lifers want to pay for there therapy for the rest of the life and in cases that they decide to keep the baby that the rapist or abuser never has the right to see that child. i also think if they want to curve abortion they need to make sure the men pay for their children, and take responsibility for their action. The woman are the ones who are always stuck alone when a man decides to ditch his responsibility.

I also believe in teaching abstinence and s*x ed in school. I believe in science in science class.

I believe in protecting the environment, in protecting the air we breathe and the water we drink.

I believe in increasing taxes for corporation and getting rid of subsidies for companies who ship jobs over seas.

The republican party just doesn't care about the people. They want to reduce corporate tax, they run a negative campaign that preaches hate, and they don't care about minorities or woman. They say they want to reduce governmental control, but they want to give the government control of my womb, of my body.

  22. I am an independent conservative who was backing up Obama until February of 2008.  I then switched to McCain and am glad I did.  I've voted for the GOP consistently for the past 8 years because, even though I don't agree with them on everything (I was very much against the Iraq war and disgusted by the g*y s*x scandals and financial corruption in the party), I haven't seen a persuasive reason to vote democrat.  If Biden or Richardson had won the nomination, I'd be strongly considering them, but with a track record like Al Gore, John Kerry, and now Barack Obama, what choice do I have?

  23. I'm voting Democrat because I am a woman who believes all women should make decisions about reproduction themselves.

  24. I'm voting for this candidate because they most closely match my ideas as to how this country should be run. The issues they are focused on are the ones that are important to me.

I am not voting for the same party as I have in the past. My life, ideas and values have changed since the last election.

  25. My vote is based on character and track record.  Just because Bush made some mistakes, doesn't mean that ALL Republicans will do the same.

  26. I am voting for Barack Obama to find out why please go here http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

I have read both parties issues pages and Barack Obama is honest and way more intelligently approaching America's issues. The opponent is just sugar coating everything and claiming things and using very very vague terminology in his solutions so its basically vote for American and go with Obama or completely trust his opponent for no reason which is just dumb.

  27. Obama of course, if we want a better america its the only resonable choice on the ballot :)

  28. I am voting for Obama because I have believed in his message from the beginning. The fact that John McCain in the last week has tried to suddenly make himself the candidate for "change" is absurd. And picking Palin was an even worse decision.

I will vote for the Democratic Party, even though there have been times when I did not vote Democratic. You must vote your conscience and mine keeps saying, "Vote Obama/Biden, Vote Obama/Biden." So that is what I will do.

  29. Qualifications and experience.

Besides the women folk are hot!

  30. im votin for obama since right now the republican have showed that with them usa is sinking!

  31. I am voting for McCain. Reasons:

    1. Foreign policy experience.

    2.Life experience.

    3.Trustworthy.

    4. A known quantity.

5.Good genes-with a mother like that, I doubt he will ever develop any form of dementia.

7.No questionable associations to speak of.

    6. He is not Obama, who is not a known quantity, and hence cannot be considered trustworthy, and who also lacks life experience and foreign policy experience, and in addition, has some questionable associations.

I have voted Republican in one prior general election. I voted for Gore, but could not stomach Kerry. Many of my friends felt as I did, and also voted Republican for the first time.

    Good question.
