  1. It depends on what you like to do. I've been to Paris, Rome, Amsterdam ans Brussels, not to Alicante, but relatively close, to Seville in Andalucia. All this places are wonderful and have their own specific beauty. I am interested in art, so I think the most interesting place I've visited was Rome, followed by Paris. I loved also the south of Spain for its warmth and exotic views, for its incredible Moorish architecture. Amsterdam is also a city that made a strong impression because of its cosmopolitanism, freedom and tolerance, but not least for its excellent museums. Brussels seemed like the city of contrasts, with a great medieval center close to shiny business and administrative headquarters. So it's up to you whether you prefer a cultural holiday in Rome of Paris, maybe Venice or Florence, a nice relaxing one on the Mediterranean Spanish coast, or a exciting trip in Amsterdam.

  2. I have been to France, Italy, and Holland (in Madrid, but not alacante!).  I enjoyed Italy the most.  Loved Venice, Rome, Milan (Lake Como), and Florence (Firenza).  Each area is so unique, ranging from mountains, to the canals, to very much in the arts, to very historic, etc.  So you have a lot of varieta with very little traveling necessary.  Also, the Tuscany area is extremely beautiful.
