  1. Disney does a good number of deck parties at night.

You might want a light sweater or jacket because the night breezes are cool even in the summer.

You also should consider taking a power strip.  The rooms usually only have 1 power outlet.

Also, a night light.  The rooms are wicked dark.

Mark the handles of your luggage with brightly colored yarn or ribbon.  There will be a sea of luggage at debarkation and it will help you find it quickly without pawing through a ton of other people's luggage.

Pack your valuables and medicine in your carry on luggage.  It can take several hours to get your luggage on the first night.

  2. I just got back from an Eastern Caribbean cruise last week.  The weather was great.  Only 2 small showers that lasted 5-10 min. on our 7 day cruise (when they see a storm they will navigate the boat around it!).  It was very humid and windy on the decks, so don't worry about putting too much effort into your hair and bring some hair clips/ties.

As far as what to wear, I would pack a sundress for dinners, and a cocktail dress for your formal nights.  It takes up less room in your suitcase than a whole outfit for each night and is easy to wear to dinner and late night activities.  During the day I lived in my bathing suits and cover-ups.

I brought a shall and long sleeve shirt just in case and never used them.

Also just another tip: Invest in a pair of Boca Clips.  They are clips you use to clip your beach towel to your chair.  You can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens and Things.  Everyone kept asking where we got ours because some days it was so windy your towel would blow right off.  They are also good for holding your pool chair when you go to breakfast/lunch!

Have fun and take lots of pictures!

  3. Cruised August 20 this year....very hot and humid with late afternoon showers...

In the evening at sea, the air was much cooler but humidity still high.  Not cool enough for a jacket or sweatshirt though.  Shorts and short-sleeved shirts or tanks were fine.

It was cool in the dining rooms and I found a light shawl took care of that problem.

Depending upon the cruise line you are traveling with, you won't need a suitcase full of dressy clothes.  Capri's, reasonably modest shorts and light tops will do it.

Ashore, it was very hot and humid in the afternoons.  We tried to get ashore first thing in the morning in order to be back on the ship before the heaviness of the afternoon.

Don't be concerned.....you will ALWAYS pack too much...we all do.  Best thing is to lay out what you think you will need, then put half back in the closet...HA!

The old saying applies:  Take half the clothes and twice the money....

Oh, and have a GREAT time.  Cruising is the BEST.
