  1. MS Antivirus is a rogue anti-spyware program that belongs to the same family as Vitae Antivirus 2008 and Vista Antivirus 2008. MS Antivirus has the same characteristics as its predecessors; it is advertised through misleading sites, lists false infections on your computer, and requires you to purchase the program before you can remove anything. Once installed MS Antivirus will be set to run automatically when your computer starts. Once the program has started, it will automatically scan your computer and list a variety of infections that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the program. If you decide not to purchase the program, then you will then be constantly harassed with popups stating that the program has found infections and that you should register it in order to fix them. This type of behavior can cause your computer to operate slower than normal.

MS Antivirus will also occasionally display fake pop-up alerts on your computer. These alerts pretend to be a detection of an attack on your computer and the alert prompts you to activate, or purchase, the software in order to stop the attack. The attack that it identifies is one from an old infection called Blaster/Sasser. When you receive these alerts, remember not to panic as they are fake and only being shown to scare you into purchasing the software.

  2. I ran into that one. MS Virus itself is a virus and claims to be an anti virus program. My bet is you got it from a s*x site. I did. Visited one that was actually very mild, merely Sports Illustrated and Coppertone Girls. I know better than to visit hard core nor do I care for it.

Now the bad part. I tried getting rid of it by repeatedly reformatting. Even that didn't work. I now have a new computer.Only way I could have gotten rid of it is replacing my hard drive and nulling the core and processor memories (I almost didn't mention extended memory. That one is so easy though. Just unplug the memory and it erases. The rest is much harder. Unplug the processor, it's still there. Think an EPROM programmer.  You can erase with ultra violet, but you will still have to reprogram the processor. Major headach. And replacement cheaper.). I have worked on and repaired computers since 1966 and even I didn't care to do that on a laptop. Tower maybe.

  3. precisesecurity.com offers a free download to remove it or Try a online virus scan here are some address to try Safety.Live.com...TrendMicro.com...get some protection Comodo.com is offering a complete security suite free and yes they can be trusted if you want to do it yourself I recommend Avira.com along with Safer-Networking.org(spybot search&destory) or SpywareBlaster from majorgeeks.com or Lavasoft.com...MalwareBytes.org is another good one to consider althrough the last two don't offer free protection some even recommend two anti-spyware scanners just to be on the safe side the other bit of advice i have to offer is external firewalls they hardwire to the machine with usb or firewire hook up now thats cutting edge tech.Remember paid is usally better than free however since Comodo.com kind offer that may not be the case anymore

  5. Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and remove it but upon rebooting it's back again.

Therefore you need to use a 'layered' approach to removing this parasite which has been successful in hundreds of cases

Download from Softpedia Secure Download (RO), install, run and check all boxes then click Apply and then reboot. This tool re-enables what codecs/viruses have disabled.

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode - tap F8 during boot before Windows splash screen and select Safe Mode.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.
