For those of you who look younger than you are, do people take you seriously?

I'm far into my twenties and I STILL get hit on my High School guys. Flattering but not cool. LOL anyways. Do you find it hard to get people to take you seriously because you look very young?

You bet, but wearning glasses helps...! Experience and maturity are somehow linked to how many wrinkles one has; unfortunately there are those born with Virgo rising (if you believe in astrology) who will always look younger than they are. Geminis generally too and probably a bunch of other signs. Staying healthy and away from too much tanning has its drawbacks.

I don't really have problems with it.  I started a new temp assignment recently and the other day one of the supervisors guessed I was 19 (I'm 26).  I take after my grandma, door-to-door salesman asked to speak to the "lady of the house" whenever she answered the door until she hit about 30.  

But people seem to think I am tough or intimidating or something (I'm not sure why) so I don't typically have problems with people treating me like a kid.

Looking younger that I am has always presented a certain situation where people get incredible expressions on their faces and others like to make snide remarks.  To answer your question - no.

It is mostly the snide remarks that give you a hard time every now and then.  You have to sort of keep proving who and what you are.

I advise you to make a tough mental barrier to protects your emotional self and really try to ignore the comments because their source is non other then ignorance, prejudice and inability to experience empathy.

Sometimes people can not help what they are so you have to deal with that too.

Not really, I think I only look about 4 years younger. They obviously know I'm grown.

yes. but i enjoy the visual irony and the confused looks of people (mostly young guys) when they find out i'm much older than they think i am and i'm a scientist.

but really, it's all in the way your carry yourself and the confidence you show towards other people. that's how you get taken seriously and avoid being a victim of ageism/sexism.

Yes im nearly 18 and ppl at work keep asking for my ID and dont ask other ppl they give me this ''what are you doing here'' kinda look.

I just hold my head up high do ma job and go home....dont give a sh** buh dem...deyr nuttin 2me.

I'm 19 and the youngest bid I've ever gotten to my age was 13, and that was a few weeks ago.

I think that people don't take me seriously sometimes, but they always respect me the way that adults do with young kids.

They're easier on me, anyway.. lol.

Yes some times people don't take me seriously because they think I'm younger than i am i'm 21 & people say i look about 15-16(i don't think i look that young lol). They don't believe the qualifications i have of the job i do (I'm a chef) because i look young. younger guys always try to talk to me because they think we're the same age. i have to carry I.D EVERYWHERE lol

well they say i look older than i am, but people think my husband is way younger than he is... he's 25 and they still think he's about 17... now thats sad... cause yeah people dont take him seriously

I get mistaken for being younger than what I am, when I put my hair up, people tell me that I look much older then. I'm only 16 though, so I guess I'm still quite young anyway. Yeah, I do find it annoying when people think I am younger, but I guess it is a compliment in a way, lol! I don't know why though, as I dress quite sensibly and act very mature. :)

I do find it very hard to be taken seriously.  I am 30 and was almost not let into a club because the bouncer at the door thought it was a fake I.D.  Talk about being furious.  You just have to take it as a compliment or you will always be mad because someone was wrongly opinionated.
