For those of you with a boat or know about them.?

i want to buy a fishing boat.

i live in florida

have a 17ft bayliner in mind

what leagaly do i need?

on the boat

and registration and stuff like that.

please help me i am cluelesss

First off bayliner is a low end boat> Spend a little more for a better 1> Go to any marine store for rules of the water ways & required equipment>

they'll give you a big book of more info that you want when you buy the boat, and you can pick up safety info at a marina or bait shop.

basic stuff you need:

title and registration

boat tag (new one every year)

numbers on the side of the boat (like a car tag)

a life vest for every person on the boat

two throw able life preservers (can be seat cushions)

a fire extinguisher that the driver can reach

a horn/air horn

a whistle (stupid, but required)

ice chest full of beer and snacks

that's all i am coming up with off the top of my head

your state will likely have additional or different things they think you need to have. the lake patrol (almost always off-duty highway patrol) will be more than pleased to inform you of any wrong doings when they pull you over for doing nothing.

take my advice and get croakies for your sunglasses, a floating keyring for your car keys/boat keys, a dry box to keep things like your wallet and cell phone in and a lid latch for your hat so you don't loose it when the wind knocks it off.

The easiest thing I can think of is to just take a two-day boating course for about 20 bucks. You'll learn basically every thing you need to know about boating.

and yes Pay a little more for a better Quality Boat Bayliner is only good for about the first year so then thay go down hill really fast
