For those to shy to make the first move and ask someone out ?

In my opinion online is better because you dont judge whoever by their defects (which we all have) instead we get to know who that person really is on the inside allowing for a better relationship.

Then of course there's the shyness factor too.

One of my friends met his wife over IRC and i met my GF over IM and things are still going well.

yes online is easier because it lacks personality but if you feel that you are compatible it can blossom and be a wonderful thing

Acually, yeah I am WAY more comfortable making friends online than in person. I guess, the security of being behind a computer screen.

I've made so many friends online (more than in person) some of which have lasted over 2 years in fact. One of which I care for dearly and cried over many times because she was there for me (she was an adult though). It wasn't THAT kind of relationship. But still, very significant. And more recently, I met another girl who I've been emailing back and forth for months now. We get along so well, but again, it's not like that. I met her on LGBT. I can assure you (from her side) that it won't work out, but still very important to me.

But talking about "more than friend" relationships, this is my view on it. Online, I try not to get into something like that, not only because of the risks, but because it is hard to actually BE in a relationship. BUT that hasn't ever stopped me! LOL Like I said, the relationships I've made with people on here are literally strong bonds than I've ever made with people in person. (I don't get out much obviously). So the possibility if it going further, isn't impossible in my mind, and more importantly, in my heart.

Yes I'm more comfortable with friendships online and no it hasn't developed into something else but that possibility is real.

I had/have a close friendship with a guy i met online but it took a long time to get to that. I was okay with talking online but the second he wanted to call me I panicked. It took months for him to convince me to call him, with my number blocked, but eventually talking on the phone was okay. He tried to turn our friendship into a relationship but I couldn't be with somebody I never met, he lives really far away from me.
