How often do you use your language during your job?

I am probably majoring in Japanese Language and Literature in college and I have already taken 3 (going on 4) years of it in high school and I am studying everyday outside of class so I may one day become fluent.

I would like a job that has a lot of interaction with Japan and its culture, because I love Japanese culture, from tea ceremonies, ikebana, even the ideas of constant respect and importance of health! When you are working that field, do you just use your language in business transactions, or do you travel to your country (Spain, France, etc) often and are you able to interact with the people/culture?

I was also starting to think about a position as an interpreter. Is this more of what I'm looking for? I've found that interpreters work in the country they are fluent in and have more interaction with the culture...any other ideas of possible career paths for my interests?
