Question:

For those who are comparing Obama and Palin's experience, can you answer this?

Obama was an Illinois State Senator for eight years, and a U.S. Senator of Illinois for almost four years. Last year he announced his run for the Presidency, and he defeated Hillary Clinton in the Primaries this year. He has been running this whole time, and over the past few months, the voters have gotten to know him.

Sarah Palin was the Governor of Alaska for 20 months, and the Mayor of a 5,000-person town for a few years. All of a sudden, John McCain picked her as his running mate.

How can you say that Palin is more experienced and more trustworthy when we barely know her? If you think the fact that she has "executive experience" makes her more experienced than Obama, doesn't that also make her more experienced than McCain and Biden?

And don't give me that "Alaska is next to Russia" c**p. Alaska is near Siberia, while Moscow is half the world away.

  1. thank you, haha im so sick of everybody saying she is more experienced then Obama when that is not even close to being true. She appeared out of nowhere, and when McCain croaks over and dies I sure dont want her as our next president.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!

--Also she is completly against a womans right to choose, how could you support somebody who is okay with somebody getting raped and forced to have that baby?!?!

The woman is a crazed christian and is the exact opposite of what this country needs.

    vote smart,

    vote obama.

  2. Obama bought his way in this election thanks to George Soros and Pro Iranians money, Its what you accomplish in the time you have been in office not the length you been in office, Obama has Zero accomplishments, She has many for such a short time,

  3. Well, the biggest thing in Obama's life that he has remotely had any control over or management of was some old people in a hot room.  None of really know what that was all about because Obama's service simply was not successful.  I guess perhaps even the poor and homeless aren't fond of socialism.

Anyway, Palin has run a government, she knows what it is like.  That alone is superior to Obama's.

  4. Well, Obama's druggie experience is 10X better, for sure.  He also knows more about black militants, racism, child abandonment, and the Weathermen.

Dang, Palin is such a loser...

  5. I don't think Palin is experienced.

She doesn't know enough to run a country, or compete on a world stage.

For instance, she misspoke in her acceptance speech by claiming to oppose the "bridge to nowhere" of Ted Stevens fame. Oh yeah, she opposed it -- but only after she finally stopped supporting it.

So -- in her first chance to speak, she messed up, which I can accept after a long campaign trail -- but not out of the gate.

  6. Sources say that your question is c**p.

This is the second worst thread in the history of Yahoo Answers.

The reason you ask?  Well, it is because YOU pitting Palin up against Obama..... when it is actually McCain v. Obama... so with that said.. I think we see that MOST obama supporters can only compare Obama with Palin because McCain clearly has the upper hand.

  7. Obama is a winner over a woman who thinks rape victims don't have a choice

  8. I'll answer your comment about being more trustworthy first. I hope you have taken the time to do a little research about Obama's recent past. ( If not, you owe it to your self to do it) From what I have read Obama has certainly NOT done anything illegal. My issue is why he has so many friends (?) and supporters who have questionable past. We have all read about J. Wright (a 20YEAR period Obama will never be able to explain away) but his contacts with the Chicago machine (Daley's corrupt organization), Rezko who has been convicted of 16 different charges, the Chicago developers who benefited greatly by his Senate actions, and the list goes on. I can't imagine anyone wanting a person who continues to make such poor decisions in the White House. I believe people are caught up in the "Celebrity" Obama and have no clue who the political Obama is.

You raise a good point about experience. Neither Obama or Palin have the experience to be president. Of course, the big difference is Palin IS NOT running for the spot. If you want to understand lack of experience just look at Obama's decisions associated with the war. How many times has he flopped so far? Its hard to keep track. Without even meeting with any field commander  he set his policy about getting the troops out. (you know the terriorist loved that one). Then he says he will meet with them to review his strategy. Then before he goes to IRAQ he announces his plan for withdrawal. Then he goes, meets with the field commanders, and changes again. Decision making?? Another issue that demonstrates he is rather short sighted. When he was in Germany he held his huge PR gathering (which looked good in the papers) Do you know he never went and saw the seriously injuried trrops who are treated in Germany? Since my son is in the Army I know first hand how disrespectful the soldiers felt about that decisions.

Please research and find out reality for your self.

  9. Amen. I agree with everything that you said.

  10. The phone is ringing at 3am ..

.. John McCain has passed away ..

Sarah Palin is now the US President ..

.. Would you trust her to make the right choice?

  11. If you really think that Obama has alot more experience than Palin, what are you so upset about? Shouldn't you be happy that he chose someone that "can't" do the job right? Wouldn't that make it that much easier for Obama to win? You obviously are scared at who McCain chose, and are worried that he might actually beat Obama!

  12. LOL no ones answering your question with a good educated answer!!!

  13. It's a pitiful ploy to appeal to the five or 6 P.U.M.A. women out there, who'd rather abandon their principles than admit that it's time to move on and get behind Obama.

Too bad McSame insulted Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Olympia Snow, Christie Todd Whitman, Meg Whitman and every other more qualified republican woman or man out there by this choice. But at least it's a great laugh to see people pretending she's the most qualified candidate!

  14. I agree.  And it doesn't matter how close Alaska is to Russia - state governments are forbidden by law from dealing with other countries.  Even Native American tribes (though they're supposed to be their own nations) are forbidden from dealing with anyone except the national government.  If a state or tribe did deal with another country on any level, it would be seen as an act of aggression.

I'm shocked at the number of people on here that don't know that.

  15. read her resume' . for a small town girl, she has tackled big world actions and won. I would say she can handle it.

  16. I wouldn't give you c**p. You're already full of it.

Before proceeding, can you please tell me how Sarah Palin's 9000 person town keeps getting reduced in people, and now it's 5000? Did nearly half of them move out since she was chosen?

Will the figure go down to 2000 before the end of labor day weekend?

  17. The fact that we have watched Obama over the past few months is EXACTLY why we think he is not qualified.

    Rev, Wright

    Barry's flip-flopping

Barry's far left agenda and voting record

Barry saying "change" for months then selecting the poster boy for status quo as a running mate

Barry saying he won't raise taxes but his voting record shows otherwise. His proposed expansion of government has to paid by someone

Barry's lack of foreign affairs experience and his lack of understanding of our military's role

Barry's bashing of the U.S, and its citizens while on foreign soil

Barry's stated resistance to nuclear energy

This guy is WRONG for the United States of America.

  18. The state of Alaska has less people in it than San Bernadino county. Her being mayor of Moosebutt, Alaska doesn't exactly put her on the "who's who" in world affairs either.

This was a horrible judgement call from McCain. It shows a panicky and unstable thought process and reveals more than ever he doesn't have what it takes to be chief executive of this country.

  19. Larry king ask her and she did not even know what the VP did.

  20. I am glad you asked this question and I am sure I can help you. You have to look at what a person has not done as well as what they have  done. The more we know about Obama the less we like:

    1. Obama has shown poor judgment at every turn:

Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Father Flager...

Palin has surrounded herself with quality she has an 80% approval rating.

    2. Obama has been proven a liar.

He promised to accept public funds... he lied

He promised not to sign FISA... he lied

He said he never took money from Rezko... he lied

He said he never new Rev. Wrights views... he lied

He lied about NAFTA as well.

A person does not have to run for President or make a big scene for you to get to know them. Palin has quietly done her job with great success, while Obama has fought off firestorm after firestorm. No one in the entire Senate is even close to Obama with his lists of terrorist friends. So, if you take a look at his character and what he has done with his time as a politician then you would have to  agree he is not fit to walk a dog. I advise you to vote McCain/ Palin.

  21. You're wasting your time...they're not logical thinkers...

Add these facts to your list -

    Obama has

-a MAJOR in Political Science with specialization in FOREIGN AFFAIRS

    -a law degree from Harvard

    Palin has

-a degree in journalism with a MINOR in political science

Obama served Illinois, a state with population 13 million

Palin served a town called Wasilla for nearly all of her career - population 5500

Obama served in the US senate - his efforts there impact the lives of all 300 million of us.

Palin served as governor for 20 months - her efforts there impact the lives of....er...650,000

  22. "Obama served Illinois, a state with population 13 million."

Obama did NOT serve Illinois.  The Illinois senate is based on district representation.  Obama represented the 13th district.  As indicated by his record as a budget-busting social welfare advocate, he may have served his district well, but he did so without regard for Illinois as a whole -- unless you count his contribution to budget deficits in a state that is required by statute to balance its budgets.

If Obama is so proud of his "service" as an Illinois state senator, why did he destroy all his records of that "service?"

Obama studied foreign affairs in college.  There is a difference between academia and what is known as the "real world."   He graduated from Columbia in 1983.  Are you suggesting that what he studied 25 years ago is a substitute for EXPERIENCE in today's world?

I've heard his grades at Columbia were terrible, but I have no evidence of that and won't state that as a fact.  Let's look at his transcript and his thesis, if he prepared one.  Oops!  He hasn't released them, has he?  WHAT IS HE HIDING?

Obama received a law degree from Harvard.  I'm impressed.  How does that qualify him to be president?  He was Editor of the Harvard Law Revenue.  So what?  He never submitted an article for publication in the HLR.  Unlike his predecessor and succesors, he was nerver invited to clerk for a Supreme Court justice and was not sought after by prestigious law firms as he approached graduation.

I've heard his grades at Harvard were terrible, but I have no evidence of that and won't state that as a fact.  Let's look at his transcript.  Oops!  He hasn't released them, has he?  WHAT IS HE HIDING?

If you know it's stupid to pit Palin against Obama, why do you do it?  You say you do it because others are doing it. You have probably read about people who commit murders, but I'm sure you don't do that.  Is there another reason?  Is it because you don't want to compare Obama to John McCain?

Why can't you promote your candidate for what he has and has DONE rather than what the other party's vice presidential candidate doesn't have and hasn't done?

  23. >> U.S. Senator of Illinois for almost four years

    >> Mayor of a 5,000-person town for a few years

Funny how about 3.5 years becomes "almost 4 years" for Obama, and for Palin 6 years becomes "a few years"

    >> How can you say that Palin is more experienced...when we barely know her?

Her experience level is unrelated to how well she's known.

    >> If you think the fact that she has "executive experience" makes her more experienced than Obama, doesn't that also make her more experienced than McCain and Biden?

Obviously it is true that she has more "executive experience" than McCain or Biden.  I don't see any room to dispute that.

    >> And don't give me that "Alaska is next to Russia" c**p. Alaska is near Siberia, while Moscow is half the world away.

  24. At first we didn't know enough about Hussein Obama. Now we know to much about him.

    McCain/Palin'08

    ><

  25. Here's the facts about Palin.  Now pay attention and some of your brain fog might lift.

*Her approval ratngs as governor are the highest in the nation, never falling below 80%!

*She has a PROVEN track record as a reformer and has gone after corruption in both parties!

*She has drastically cut government waste as both mayor of Wasilla and governor of Alaska. Her first act as Mayor was to give herself a pay cut. As governor, she got rid of some excess staffers in the governor's mansion saying "I can make sandwiches for the children myself." She sold the state's private jet on e-bay. She returned federal government funds and put an end to the "Bridge to Nowhere". (There's more, but you would have to be pretty dense not to get the picture.)

*She choose to allow her Downs Syndrome child to be born, not giving just lip service to her Pro-Life stance.

*Under her leadership, the state coffers are overflowing...so much so that all citizens of Alaska will soon receive (or maybe already have) a tax rebate in the thousands, not the hundreds.

*She is Captain of the Alaska's National Guard. She knows what it is like to be a military commander. Even if on a smaller scale than Commnder and Chief, still much more than Obama or Biden can say.

*In spite of the fact you would like to deny it and minimize it, the FACT is she HAS dealt with Russian President Putin on a fairly regular basis regarding fishing rights, etc. and has been proclaimed by him as one of the few American politicians he trusts. (This is especially helpful now with the whole Russia/Georgia situation. She has his ear and his respect...and doesn't Obama believe negotiation is the way to go in dealing with international crisis?!)

*She's one of us, not a Washington insider. Her working class credentials are impeccable. Her husband is even a member of the United Steel Workers Union. (That will be especially important to people in states like Pennsylvania and the steel mill workers there.)

In other words, what makes Palin such an AWESOME choice is not so much the AMOUNT OF TIME she has spent in government, but ALL she has ACCOMPLISHED and the character and INTEGRITY she has demonstrated in such a short time!  She got all this done while the JR. senator for Ill. was busy campaigning for president and voting "present"

As to the experience issue, she is the ONLY candidate (and I must include McCain in that) who has experience in the Administrative Branch of government as governor of her state. Senators are members of the Legislative Branch. Her 2 years as governor trumps Obama's short time as a Jr. Senator...and as pointed out previously, most of that time was spent campaigning for the Presidency.  And yes, she has more adminstrative experience than John McCain as well-but even though McCain's years as a public servant have been spent as part of the Legislative Branch, Obama still loses there as well.  Once again, his experience is trumped by McCain's many times over.  No matter how you slice it and dice it-both McCain and Palin are more qualified for the Presidency than Barak Obama.  (Clinton and Biden both said as much, at least about McCain vs. Obama, before they changed their tune for political self interest.)

And now, let's address this issue:   You said

"Obama served in the US senate - his efforts there impact the lives of all 300 million of us.

OK, let's examine that a little further.  His "efforts" (if you can call voting "present" an "effort") there do indeed impact the lives of all 300 million of us.  However, there is POSITIVE IMPACT and there is NEGATIVE IMPACT.   The fact is that most people apparantly feel that this newly Democrat controlled Congress has indeed had a NEGATIVE impact.  Approval ratings for Congress continue to fall, now down into the single digits!

  26. The phone is ringing at 3 AM and a communist and terrorist sympathizer is in the white house.  I don't know about you but I don't trust Obama to make any practical or logical choice.  This guy started his career with the support of Bill Ayers a declared enemy of the United States.  A move you make with someone you thinks like you.

  27. thank you!

finally there is someone smart asking questions... all of mccains supporters should read this... they have nothing to back it up with. when mccain dies, i definitely dont want a woman who thinks rape victims who get pregnant shouldnt be able to abort the baby & dont think that life partners could visit each other in the hospital.

and she cant raise a down syndrome baby and help run the country.

    vote smart!

    vote obama/biden08!

  28. No he was only a State Senator for 143 days since then he has been a No show on the road campaigning.

Palin does have more experience.  being Governor is an executive job which calls for a lot of hard decisions.  Senator is a group job of legislation.

Obama only has the background of being a Community Activist!

    SHE DOES HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!

  29. John Mccain only met Palin once and chose her.  That is another strike against this woman who is an empty cat suit !

  30. You are silly.  do you really think we know Obama.. Ha!  not by a long shot.  But elect him and we will get to know fast who pushes his buttons and pulls his strings.

A know nothing senator didn't just "raise" the million and millions of dollars from the internet.. someone owns him.. and it scares me to think who.

He is just the charismatic front man... but if we elect him.. then we get what we deserve.. just like we did with Bush.

..and Obama.. well he will be laughing all the way to White House and the bank!!!

  31. But does Obama have any Executive leadership experience in making the various branches of any government work together to provide clear leadership for the nation?

    The answer is...

    No.

Being a member of the state legislature and a member of the US Senate only means he has experience being one of many people who propose and refine laws before passing them further down the line to become law.

And yes, she does have more Executive leadership experience than McCain, Biden, or Obama.
