  4. 3 years ago I spent 2 summers working at a FRC we had full day childcare and 2days  a week we went swimming, skating or bowling once a week and fridays were fun fridays that included games, movies or theme related fun days, inbetween all this activity we kept up with academics in a fun way and studied lots of science activites, like weather, and frogs, we also did tie-dying and spent alot of time outdoors, to keep kids out of trouble we kept the kids busy, but during the middle of the day we also allowed a MANDATORY quiet time where each child who could read either rested quietly or read a chapter book, this gave everyone a break from the busy days of activity.  I was lucky and had a great school system that backed  the FRC and knew how valuable we were to the system.  We also took trips to the the local muesum and state parks.
