For those who camp with their horses, have you ever rented an annual campsite?

A friend and I are considering this option for the remainder of this year. It would be nice to have the camper there, already set up in a nice location.

What are the typical rules you've encounterd for guests and the charges they pay?

Who was considered "family" that could use your campsite if you weren't there?

What were the "conduct rules" and did you find them realistic?

What kind of troubles did you encounter that were totally unexpected? Of course it's possible to pick a site next to a person you find totally infuriating, that is a risk anytime you take on something like this...I'm wondering about other kinds of troubles we aren't considering.

Advantages?

Disadvantages?

Yeah, I think we're going to do this, so some of you may get an invite to come ride with us at our "home away from home" in Indiana. ;o)

  1. I've never heard of this.  When we camp with our horses it's usually on public land in the mountains, we just pack in, pick a place and camp.  I didn't know you "rented" campsites.  I'm curious to see how others answer this question.

Tell you what, when you want to do some "Real" horse camping, come out to Utah, Wyoming, or Montana! :) :) :)
