CAN ANYONE WHO DID EXCELLENT ON THE CRITICAL READING SECTION ON THE SAT GIVE ME ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO DO WELL ON THE LONG PASSAGE OF THE SAT, BECAUSE THE TIME IS TOO SHORT TO READ ALL THAT, ANY STRATEGY TO SCORING CORRECTLY?

  1. I didn't do amazing on the reading section (670) but what worked for me was to read the passage by paragraphs, and then after I finished a paragraph I would look through the questions and answer the ones that applied, then I would read the next paragraph and answer those questions, and so on and so on. By doing this, I was able to answer the questions right after reading the paragraph where the answer was found, instead of having to go back at the end of the passage and try and answer the questions from memory which can waste precious time.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Try skimming the passages. You're going to have to go back and read the details for each question individually anyway since you won't be able to remember everything you read. Instead, just try to get a basic outline of the passage in your mind so you know where to go back and look for the answers. Otherwise, you end up reading everything twice. Also, the questions go in pretty much chronological order, so the first few questions are usually about the beginning of the passage and so on.
