Hi! I've heard that some people's hair has naturally gone from brown to blond. This means that their ROOTS are blond, and that they did not chemically alter their hair in any way. For those people, I was curious if you were under an abnormal amount of stress during this changing process. For example, did someone you know die or did you break up/divorce someone? Any answers would be much appreciated, and remember that I'm not talking about DYING your hair, but having it naturally change. Thank you so much! :)

  1. I've never heard of stress changing someone's hair color. My hair has gotten lighter in the past few years though. I can say that I have had a lot of stress in my life the past few years, but I don't think that is what made my hair color change. I have dyed my hair a lot in the past few years though and I think that is why my hair is growing out a lot lighter.

  2. I haven't heard of stress causing your hair to change color (except in novels where it always changes hair to grey) but I've known some people who's hair changed when they were younger (like from black to blond, brown to black, etc). I actually had strawberry blond hair when I was a baby and then when I was about two or three it changed to brown, for no reason at all. And my dad has had a patch of white hair since he was a boy. It looks sort of strange, because the rest of his hair is jet black and it really sticks out. Also, some people's hair will change shades slightly (from light blonde to a dark, almost brown, color) when they're sick or having a bad day, but it's never permanent.

  3. Have you actually seen this happen?  I think this would be an extremely rare occurance!

  4. When I was younger, my hair was almost jet black; however, as I grew older my hair began to fade to a lighter shade. By grade 7 the tips of my hair were starting to turn blond. I could credit this due to genetics as my dad is a true blond, while my mother is a brunette (I'm aware blond is a recessive gene, while brunette is dominant). What is odd is that my eyebrows are jet black still. So I dye my hair now to hide match my eyebrows; however, every few months I can see my old dirty blond hair growing out.

In addition, my boyfriend and sister both have grey hairs before the age of 24. My boyfriend credits it from the stress he endured from college as that's when they "first" appeared. His brother on the other hand has no grey hairs (he is a year older).

  5. not at all. my hair turns blonde every summer from the sun. i'm not under stress because there's no school and i can't think of anything bad that happened during the summer recently.
