  1. I just went for my first appointment on Wednesday.  I had to fill out a ton of paperwork about our medical history as well as answer many questions the doctor had regarding our fertiliy.  The doctor also did an internal sonogram to look at my uterus and ovaries.  My husband and I left with prescriptions for bloodwork.  The next appointment will consist of more bloodwork and a water sonogram to check the uterus right before ovulation.  I was very nervous too and It really wasnt anything to worry about.

  2. On our first appt we went over the blood tests we had and I also had an ultrasound which showed that I was indeed ovulating, which had been a concern. The doctor outlined what he thought our best course of action would be, which tests came next, etc.  I left the appt feeling much better and feeling like we had a plan.  Good luck!!!

  3. on the first appoitment you are most likely to ask you to have a blood test on CD2-3 and then another blood test when you are OV and will also requset your husband to have a sperm analysis done you wil also be asked along with your partner questions regarding your lifestyle - i.e smoking/drinking, how long you have been ttc, how often you have s*x, any children you may have.

on the following appt, thankfully everything came back ok from before i was requested to have another test to check Pogestorone levels and my DH another one to check sperm as they say that it is hard to base things on just one test 2 is better

good luck with your appt i hope it goes well i felt much better when my 1st appt was over!!

    :)

  4. hiya,

it's feels so scary the first time you go, but least you'll feel like something is being done now, i reckon they will just talk to you about your periods, take your weight, all that stuff an then order some tests.

one will prob be an hsg where they check your tubes

you might have to have some blood tests

and maybe an ovary scan to check for pcos

(if i was you i'd read up about the symptoms of pcos as you might have that - as your periods are not regular - like me and i have pcos)

and youve had a sperm test so thats good

next you'll go back and they will decide what treatments will be best but something like clomid will prob be best first as you only have 2 periods a year, so clomid should help you ovulate.

    good luck xx

  5. The first visit will be just questions and answers to you both.

The main causes for female infertility are ovulation disorders, so you should expect questions about your 'cycle' etc, these may in the first place lead to blood tests.

The main causes of male infertility surround sperm count and will probably lead to a test being carried out on your husband's sperm.

The main thing is to accept is it's not anyone's 'fault'.

When the initial diagnosis has indicated where the problem probably lies, then further tests can be carried out and the fertility consultant will explain these to you.

But don't worry, these consultants are very kind understanding people who will do their utmost to help you achieve your dream.
