  1. The Chicken Dance!!!

    Great fun!

  2. Home for a Rest

But I'm assuming that since you're having dancing that the DJ would be taking care of that anyhow - it's pretty much mandatory.

  3. Well, I've been to three this summer.  All had the Electric Slide, the Chicken Dance, and the Casper Shuffle.

One had a pretty good mix of a few older Michael Jackson songs like Billie Jean, Bad, Thriller, Smooth Criminal and Beat it.  They all also had Play That Funky Music and Atomic Dog.

  5. I hope you're asking because you want songs that are fun and original...not because you want songs everyone else has.  In any case, I'm sick of hearing:

    You look wonderful tonight

    wonderful world

    butterfly kisses

    canon in d

    the wedding march

    somewhere over the rainbow

    because you loved me

    the chicken dance

    celebration

    we are family

    unforgettable

and any country song...I don't care how classy the wedding is, a country song makes it feel like a shotgun wedding

  6. While there are standard fare wedding songs (which are often as likely to annoy some people as to thrill others), what songs will be fun depends on the crowd you're inviting.  Lots of 50 - 70 year old relatives?  Then you want some fun danceable oldies stuff.  Lots of 40 - 50 year olds?  Try classic rock cuts and some disco.  30 somethings, you usually can't go wrong with at least a few fun 80s songs.  And 20 somethings, well, what's current and fun.

Problem is, what if a big huge chunk of your guests are totally into the goth thing?  So you can have hits and misses.  It really does depend on knowing your crowd.  If you're having a DJ, ask for some sample playlists and also see if s/he readily adapts playlists for the type of crowd you say you are likely to have.  If they can't, you want a different DJ.  Same goes for a band.
