I backed into a mirror and fell on it yesterday & it cut the back of my leg where the achilles tendon is. I got a tetnus shot & everything. I have a $40 co-pay w/ my insurance & I don't really want to pay that again today just so he can look at it & then go back in 10 days & pay it again to have the stitches taken out. I know if I ask him he will probably say I should come in, but is it really necessary? I know you are more than likely not going to be doctors answering this question, but you may have had stitches before & might know.

  1. i wouldnt go

  2. Thats no good! You poor thing.  : (

I have had stitches a few times, and each time I have gone back a week later to have them removed, and didn't go back inbetween then.

So I would say you would be fine to wait the ten days. Unless the wound is looking red and irritated, and may be infected, then I would go back.

    Good luck with it.

  3. I had a breast lump removed in Hospital, day Patient. I returned to my GP one week later to have the stitches removed. My Mother at 77 fell out of bed and cracked her head open, took her to A & E and they stitched her up and told her to see the GP one week later. Therefore I would give it a week and then see the Doctor, but you might have to book your appointment. Best of Luck

  4. I have had stitches plenty of times and did not have to go back for a few days. I hope you are ok.

  5. what did the person that did the stitches tell you they usually tell you when to return.  Plus to get the stitches out they don't usually charge or you could just take then out with nail trimmers( the little scissor kind) yourself.

  6. No, that sounds odd to me. I have had stitches a few times and they always had me come back 7-10 days later. The next day doesn't seem right. I'm glad you were ok. Take care. = )
