  1. They will take you to court and attach your wages - meaning your employer is required to give them all or part of your paycheck - whatever is specified by the court.

  2. I feel it is so dumb to call people and then tell them that they need

to pay their credit card off or else.

For us who have stopped paying credit card bills, what have we

    done to collection agencies...

It is not our fault we lost our jobs or can't afford to pay it off... because

of gas price...  then collection agencies of the RICH folks' companies want the money back...

WHY CAN'T THEY SHOW SOME COMPASSION????? And stop calling us....

    and harassing us like this.

  3. www.creditrepairuniverse.net

You can send a letter or call them and they cant call, send you letters anymore etc. But they will sell off the account, then another company will do same.

  4. took me to court won a judgement against me jacked up my credit rating unable to get a mortgage or personal loan

  5. paid all by settlement, shouldn't have because back then i didn't know that they can't really send you to jail, I was led to believe by collections rep. At first he was nice then he got really very pushy.  I Wired Western Union, I don't have the receipt.  So now, on credit score, it shows I owe but in good standing. I called them and in a month they sold to another collections agency. I called them back and inquired and rep found I did pay but it seems they're trying to get around it.

If you decide to settle or pay, never pay collections agency if possible. Go to the original debtor and ask to pay them.  Tip: Have in writing that if you pay, they will take it out of credit report so you have proof. And if it keeps showing up on all the credit bureau's, send a copy of that written proof to them and they take it off.

  6. call o over and over.. if u got a cell phone or houe phone in ur name.. they can look all that c**p up and call u to harrass u  as well... as early as 7am when everthey please.. rude people they dont kare.,

  7. I fought and won!    You can too.  Consider it a war.   When sued, answer the summons.  Fight fight fight   Don't give in.  If more people fought these bottom feeder bill collectors, people would be better off.

  8. Well, due to severe difficulties, there have been some months when we haven't been able to pay.  Usually if you call them and explain the situation they have a department that can work something out with you.  If they don't and won't, there's always CCCS, but you have to check them out with your local BBB first to make sure they're legitimate.  We found in our experience that we could make pretty much the same arrangements with them ourselves that they would do through CCCS.

Don't ignore them, though, because they can sue you for the debt and it only gets worse then, plus you'll end up paying their court costs.

If you don't own your house or have anything *big* to lose or a house to buy in the near future, I'd possibly look into bankruptcy.

  9. 1. They called over and over until I was ready to pull my hair out.

    2. They reported to the credit bureaus.  It destroyed my credit.

    3. One tried to garnish my wages, but I begged them to give me more time.  I set up a payment arrangement and had that taken care of.

    4. One collection agency sent my account to an attorney's office.  The attorney's office threatened to file a lawsuit if I did not pay immediately.  Luckily, I was able to settle.

I have since paid off all delinquencies.  My credit score has gone up almost 200 pts in the last year.  It is a great feeling to have all that behind me.  If you are in that position, do not ignore the problem.  Stay in contact with the creditors.  They will work with you.  Most will lower your payment or interest rate so that you won't have to stop paying entirely.  If the account has already went to collections, you can offer a settlement.  It's better than not paying at all.  Also, get everything in writing.

  10. After the guy parked his car in my yard - not on the driveway - he beat on the door for 5 minutes and scared my kids to death. I tried calling the police, but my phone was already cut off last week. My cell phone has been dead for month's, so I did not try it. I asked him, through the screen door, to leave, but he refused. I asked him what he wanted and he just kept screaming "THE MONEY". My kids were under the kitchen table, sobbing.

Fortunately, my neighbor came over and "suggested" the guy leave. He then told me to be prepared for huge legal battle as he was on his way to the courthouse. I never answered the subpoenas, so I learned months later that the garnishments would leave me with $21 per week to feed four children.

I guess I should of paid Citibank the money I owed them.

  11. They will take you to court and get a judgment against you. That looks really bad on your credit, especially since you more than likely won't be able to pay it off. It ruins your credit. You might not care about it now; I didn't. I was 21 and just had a baby with health problems, had 4 year old child, a $900.00 electric bill, our car got repo'd AND our house was being foreclosed on. But now I'm 28, remarried and would like to buy another house and I can't be on the loan because of my credit. And the car and house weren't even in my name. Your credit DOES matter, even if you're poor. It can affect alot of things, even getting hired at a good job or where you can live.

They are also very pushy and very rude. The lady told me, "I don't think you want your credit ruined for the next 7 years." I said, and I quote:

"B!thc, I've got a one month old baby on a heart monitor, a 4 year old, a $900.00 electric bill that they are going to cut off my heat in FEBRUARY, our truck got repossessed and they are foreclosing on my house. If you want your money, you can get in f_cking line."

Oh, and by the way... if the collection agency is NCO, I feel very sorry for you. They will NOT work with you, they are pushy, rude, they lie, they misrepresent themselves. One guy tried to get my husband to give him my bank account information over the phone to pay on my husband's account after I already said no! And he didn't let up. After a half hour I took the phone and hung it up. NCO was fined the most money of any collection agency EVER for their collection practices about 2 years ago. They have also changed their company name like 4 times.

  12. They will send a lot of letters. Eventually cancel your card. Credit rating will go down.
