Question:

For those who own cats and dogs

I just adopted a little 14 month old kitten. Him and my dog seem to actually be getting a long great. But do you have any suggestions about toys i can get him? the problem is all the balls, mice, etc are too small for my dog, and from her visiting my parents (who have cats), i know she won't leave the toys alone. The main thing i'm worried about is not her playing, but choking on the toys. Do you guys have any suggestions for a good cat toy out there?

Thanks!!!

  1. These are the best cat toys....

    1. Rolled up paper or tinfoil balls (paper is best for kittens...she can eat all she wants)

    2. Elastics (big ones for kittens that she can't eat)

All of my cats have vastly preferred these to anything bought in a store.

  2. You can teach your dog not to touch the cat toys, try what pretty kitty has suggested. My Bengal cat LOVES the feather thingy on a string attached to a little pole.  I can get him to do acrobatics with that.  Even at 3 years old, he's very nimble.  Unlike my other two cats who just sit there are watch him.  Every kitty is different and you just have to try different toys until you find the ones or types he likes.  Good luck with kitty and give him a hug for us!

  3. Your dog needs to learn the command "drop it". Give her a toy and command "drop it". Hold a treat to her nose and she'll drop the toys for the treat.  After she learns this, start giving treats only randomly, not every time. That way when she gets the cat's toys, ask her to drop it and she will. Feather toys on sticks are great.

  4. you just have to try different toys to see what the kitte likes best..

  5. Set up a play room where your kitten can play with her toys.  I had the same problem and this worked.  My dog eventually stopped caring about cat toys (unless they have cat-nip in them) and leaves them alone, so we now have toys everywhere once again!

  6. get a big feather  from a bird,or a string that is connected to a plastic stick it really is not string but a long cloth thing thicker then string
