I asked a previous question, what is worse, a child who drinks alcohol or a child who smokes marijuana. I guess I didn't state my question in an understandable way, since most answers I got were, "both are bad" and "because marijuana is Illegal"

"drinking kills more kids that marijuana, through overdose and driving accidents the number of kids who die from alcohol are staggering compared to marijuana. In fact if i'm not mistake, there has been no documented cases of death from marijuana overdose. Alcoholics are notorious for being violent and abusive, while potheads are notorious for........eating.......no type of addiction is good, but really what is worse? I would also like to make a disclaimer that a do not smoke pot at all, I tried it a few times and absolutely hated it. It is definately not for me."

My question is for those who still think it should be Illegal, and alcohol should be legal....why? There is multitudes of evidence showing alcohol to much a much more dangerous drug. It kills more people, creates more addicts, destroys more families, causes more violence, than marijuana.

There is also the issue of medicinal purpose. If nothing else it is known to be an effective pain killer. Of the current pain killers on the market that are legal virtually all cause kidney and liver damage and are hundreds of times more addictive drugs. So, if you think that marijuana should be illegal, and alcohol should be legal, what is your justification?

  1. Your questions "excuses" are without merit. What HAS been proved is that MJ users soon need a bigger high and progress to harder drugs. These are expensive and soon the users need to commit crimes to support their habits.

  2. The government makes alot of money by having marijuana illegal.

  3. The reason that alcohol is responsible for more deaths is because it is legal and available.  If weed were legal it would be more abundant and available too.  You would not like the end product.  Do you honestly think that they will just make it legal and keep it business as usual?  There will need to be controlled growing areas, FDA, AMA, along with how to tax it and how much.  There would need to be new facilities set up to handle the new addicts, and training from the top down from doctors to the street cops on how to deal with and identify those that are high.  Then we would need to have congress involved, you gotta tax it and regulate, then you need to market it, so now you have advertising up the wazoo.  You would not like the end game.  Leave it alone before you **** it up for the rest of us.

  4. You've made some very good points. I've never tried tried it...mainly because I was afraid my father would beat the c**p out of me, if did.

Here's the answer to your question: money is why booze is legal and marijuana isn't. Do you realize how many people are millionaires, because they sell liquor. Same as principle as cigarettes.

  5. "It kills more people, creates more addicts, destroys more families, causes more violence, than marijuana."

OK, who's to say that marijuana wouldn't be just as harmful if it were legalized? Only so many people are able to get their hands on pot. Some can't afford it; others fear the law. So you have no way of comparing the two; it's apples to oranges. I believe that if pot were legal, people would be clamoring to get the stuff and it would be just as destructive, if not more. Thank goodness it isn't legal.
