do you also think the US should be the first to exploit the Arctic for oil since all the glaciers and polar caps are melting and we can get in there?

  1. As a rule, you will find that everyone who believes that human-induced global warming is a myth also believes we should be drilling for oil pretty much any place we can find it, including the Arctic.

It should be noted that even Republicans as a rule now believe in Global Warming.  You have to, all the signs are there that the climate is changing and rapidly so.  No one can ignore those signs.

What they don't believe is that it is being caused by humans.  They believe its a more natural occurrence, another Ice Age or some other Age coming as happens to the Earth every once in a while.

Personally, I don't know one way or the other.  There are scientists on both sides and they always break out information that supports their side while completely ignoring information that doesn't.

But its hard for me to imagine all the various particles we put into the air, in the ground, and in the water isn't doing something.  It may or may not be changing the climate, but its sure as h*ll messing with my asthma.  I think we should think about more Earth-friendly ideas if only to help ourselves, regardless of whether we do it to save a polar bear or not.

Those particles and chemicals are considered the main reason for the rise in cancers, heart disease, lung disease, probably other health issues, lack of clean drinking water, etc.  So I still believe we should do something about our pollution levels.

Because even if we aren't destroying the Earth and/or its climate, we are killing ourselves off pretty nicely.

I'm sure those on the Religious Right would hate to disappoint Jesus when He comes back only to find us all dead...

  2. We should start with the easier accessible areas like ANWAR and the out countinental shelf. The north pole can come in if we need it.

The USA is the only country which limits oil exploration. Interesting that we are the few countries with private business. If government took over the oil industry (like Maxine Waters said the liberals would like to), I bet they would start drilling everywhere.

  3. it won't last long look at this http://icecap.us/index.php/go/joes-blog/...

  4. No.  The arctic belongs to Canada.

  5. We are or won't be the first, Russia is already there.  China will be next.  We have become followers and not leaders in this world economy.  Take this test and read everything.

  6. hey i will let you dig in my back yard

  7. s***w the arctic lets use the resources we have in our own land!

  8. global warming is real.  stop lying to yourself

  9. some people are prepared to believe whatever scientists tell them... unless the scientists are claiming that the oil can be had with no ecological harm... then the scientists are delusional.

Science is a business. Some people get their money from the fear of global warming - whether real or fantasy. Others get their money from the business groups looking for cheaper energy.

  10. Now listen out there you lot. There's more than enough oil in the areas that we are currently drilling. The problem is that we aren't drilling deep enough. At present drilling is down to approx. four and a half kms. Now if we go down to thirteen kms as Russia has then there's more oil there than we can burn in a million years. Unfortunately most believe oil to be a fossil fuel and that it must run out some day. It has been discovered that it's not but a abiotic oil. It's being made at a depth of 100kms below the surface at 50,000 atmospheres. It's never going to run out. It being made constantly at a rate far exceeding our consumption. If you don't believe what I've written then just google "Abiotic" oil and see what you come up with. I've been gathering little bits of info from all over the world for four years and I believe we need to take a good hard look at all the proof available, no assumptions, computer models or alike, just good hard facts and if the books have be rewritten then so be it.
