When you had your second child, did you find that your milk supply was better than with your first?? Just curious because with my first, my milk dryed up after 2months, and i would like it if it went longer this time around..

  1. I couldn't breastfeed my 2nd. She refused the breast. So I pumped for 5 weeks. I breastfed my 1st and 3rd for 6 months. I think that it was the same but I can't remember. My oldest is 8 and my youngest is 12 months.

  2. For me, when I had my first child, I pretty much didn't know what I was doing as far as breastfeeding. So, no one ever told me not to supplement with formula. When you do that, you decrease your milk supply. So, when my second came along, I knew better, having figured that out. I had an increased supply because the demand was more. Remember, the baby goes through stages too. It seems about every few weeks, the baby requires more milk, so he/she will nurse more often, increasing your milk supply. That part always made me paranoid, because the baby doesn't seem to be getting enough, always wanting to be latched on. But the thing to keep in mind is, the more they nurse, the bigger the supply. I hope you have a wonderful experience this time around!

  3. With my first I could have fed three babies I had that much milk, second time around my body was more productive and made what was needed, not enough to supply a milk bank, lol.

Milk supply is can be hampered by being underweight (body fat is used to help make the milk, fat stores are essential) and a good diet and fluid intake. I hope it goes better second time around for you, it did for me,

    Good luck.
