  1. Its different.  There is a skills test and a road test.  Skills test involves making right & left turns while keeping the back tires within a certain distance of a cone, and lots of different backing maneuvers.  

    Road test in a big truck obviously has to stick to roads that are big enough to fit a truck down.....most car road tests take you down a lot of residential streets & stuff.  Typically there will be an interstate, or large 4-lane highway thrown in, the driver is asked to perform a proper emergency stop on the shoulder & return to traffic properly.  If the driver is getting Hazmat endorsement there also has to be a railroad crossing and he/she has to demonstrate that procedure properly.
