For truck drivers, when I go over the road the first time, does a trainer come with me?

I am not a truck driver but I work for the largest trucking co. in the US. Any decent co. will send you out with a trainer. Unless you already have tons of experience. We have a school and the guys are required to go out for 42 days straight with a trainer. Good Luck and Be Safe.

After your training WITH a trainer, I believe they let you take to the road by yourself or  with a team driver. Depends on whether you are going solo driving or team relay etc. as to whether you go by yourself.

I think it depends on where you work. But I really don't think so. You have to have your CDL, and you take a test for that so you are safe on the road, but like I said, some compaines might do that the first few times...like have you have to student teach before you get your masters in teaching.

i only drive local so i cant tell you for sure, but i believe that most companies will send a trainer with you for a short run, maybe 500 miles or a regional run.....i drive for roadway express out of indianapolis, and thats what one of the guys was telling me

by the way, roadway express is hiring OTR drivers all over the country right now
