  1. I started being a vegetarian about a month ago, and tomorrow I'm going vegan:) I have been buying numerous vegan foods this weekend. And today i tried my first ' meatless chicken nugget ' from morning star - DELICIOUS! I LOVE them! You dont have that greasy feeling knowing that your eating real animals, its all made from vegetables, But i swear it tastes real! Morning star is a life saver! Also try their meatless hamburgers, and meatless corn dogs. I'm telling you, the founder of that company is a Guinness.

Also try eating beans, rice, jello pudding ( pudding you make yourself though, because it cant have gelatin in it ), tomato soup, and most cereals. Most grocery stores have their own little vegetarian section, were you can buy butter, soy milk ( vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry), yogurt, ice cream, and even eggs that are specially made for vegans and vegetarians.

Hope that helped:) - now I'm craving those chicken nuggets!:(

  2. Its great that you went vegetarian.  I just answered a really similar question so I don't want to totally repeat myself, but basically my recommendation is to try all the different kinds of vegetables and grains and explore recipe books and online recipe sites.  With some experimenting you'll develop your own healthy way of eating.

I always use vegweb.com, people post recipes and review them.

And a couple of particular things- nutritional yeast is a delicious topping and the good versions of it have B vitamins.  Braggs liquid aminos is a version of soy sauce with extra nutrition.

  3. I have a recipe that you could probably really take advantage of!  In your case you could actually make a big batch and freeze a month or more worth of portions...I won't give you a link.  I will give you a tried and true recipe that I make every week for my family...and my boys are picky!  They love this though.

    OUR VEGAN CHILI

The ingredients are 1 bag of Morningstar Farms ground, 1 large can of crushed tomatoes, 1 can of chili magic, a chichi's corn cake packet and a can of cream corn.

In a large pot, combine all the ingredients except for the corn and the corn cake mix. Heat until boiling and let it boil for like 8 minutes and it's ready.

Follow the directions on the corn cake mix and heat it in the oven. It's better to start the cake first because it takes a lot longer. You can time it out right after practicing though.

When both items are done, fill a bowl with half corn cake and half chili. Take a little corn bread and a little chili with each bite. Trust me, you can't go wrong with this recipe.

It's completely cruelty free, and it only costs about 11.50 to make it. It serves 4 people with too much and probably 6 if you eat normal portions.

I hope this will help you.  If you like it you can e-mail me for another couple of recipes.  I don't mind getting requests.  I get them all the time.

  4. Well, I am a vegetarian and I don't eat meat or fish. Anything breathing is off-limits for me. :) You can eat anything made by Boca or Morning Star but that is nowhere near all there is. Those are just 2 of my favorite brands. If you like ribs, the best vegetarian ribs I have found are Gardenburger BBQ Riblets (veggie riblets) These taste exactly like ribs. I just became a vegetarian last year. (I am 13) I thought becoming a vegetarian would be hard but I have found it extremely easy.

Be careful when looking for soups. Most of them are made with chicken stock. A good veg friendly soup is Progresso Light Italian-Style Vegetable (or any other veggie based Progresso.)

If you know where to look, there is a veggie substitute for any food. I personally like Cedar Lake Vegi-Scallops.

I hope this has helped you a bit. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or want more suggestions! Good luck. :)

  6. Any Punjabi foods!  Most of Punjab is Sikh and therefore vegetarian.  Also, some vegetarian stuff from all over India, I love indian food (since I am indian)

Salads, stuff like that is also good.

  7. i personally love these frozen dinners by a primarily organic brand called amy's that's pretty common. a lot of products in the line are vegan, gluten-free, and wheat-free. i especially love the no cheese pizza.

also eggplant is a new recent favorite, cooked with lots of fresh local vegetables.
