internet connection with a router, is it better to be public or private, ie. which one doesn't allow others to use my wireless signal?

  1. When you set up a private network you are not going to be able to share files with other computers, or other computers to see what is going on, on your network.


  2. private means others can't use your signal. it's the best choice, it gives you a stronger connection. :D

    These two options are functions of the Network Discovery feature. They control whether your computer is visible on the network. They do nothing at all to your wireless signal. You should use the private setting if you are behind a router and want to see other computers connected to the router.

    You choose public in public places (eg internet cafe) when you want your PC to be invisible to other users sharing the network conenction.
