  1. The first answer is the most accurate - if you are considered to be a serious danger to yourself - eg feeling suicidal, or serious self harm, or if you are considered a danger to anyone else, by threatening behaviour, anger issues etc.

  2. This site should help

  3. never heard of this, please explain further.. what are you talking about?

  4. well its supposed to be whether they are at risk to themselves or others.

however often (sadly) its usually the latter that gets taking into account.

if you are a danger to yourself, usually its voluntary admission as it takes a lot for them to get someone sectioned (2 doctors or a doctor and approved social worker, a lot of hassle basically).

however beds in psychiatric wards are scarce and i have known of people who are a danger to themselves and have never even been offered a bed in a psychiatric hospital, let alone sectioned. sad really. the mental health system in this country is diabolical

  5. Under the Mental Health Act, the patient must be at risk either to themselves or other due to a mental illness within the meaning of the Act. For example this does not include psychopathy.

  6. If they are a danger to themselves or anyone else.

  7. a risk to yourself or others, usually measured by behaviour or potential behaviour
