Okay I'm leaving out the story because you really dont need to know, sorry if I rained on your parade. Anyways, For all those ladies that have taken an at home pregnancy test did you find the test accurate?

I am planning on taking a First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test myself and I know that the true way is to go to the doctor but right now a home pregnancy test is what I can get my hands on. Ive read that this test is the most accurate and got an exellent review. I just really wanted to find out if you all found the test you personally chose accurate. Thanks a bunch!

  1. I used EPT right before I missed my period and it was accurate. It is also best to take it first thing in the morning. Good luck!!

  2. I don't believe there is a "true" way.  I find it more economical to pay $4 for an at home pregnancy test to see if I'm pregnant vs. a $20 co pay.

I used Equate and it gave me an accurate answer quickly.  For more information on different tests and their reviews, try www.peeonastick.com

  3. Once you have missed your period any home test will do, even the generic ones. When you are pregnant your body produces HCG and that is what is detected by these tests. HCG doubles every 24-48 hrs during early pregnancy so if you test early and it is negative and you still miss your period take another test. With my first two pregnancies I used the expensive tests because I thought it was best. The early pregnancy tests did not work for me. Both times the test came up positive once I missed my period. So this time around I waited until I missed my period and got a Generic Target brand test and it came back positive so fast I was shocked. So personally I wouldn't waste the money on the expensive ones unless you really want to. Also it is very rare to get a false positive. False negatives can happen. So if there are two lines you are pregnant. Good luck!

  4. i used the cheap walmart equate one. it didnt lie!

  5. They are as accurate as the ones the doctors use.  They detect a specific hormone so if it says positive..it's most likely positive

  6. That is the same test I took both times and yes for me it was very accurate. And I got my positive 11 days after Ovulation. But some women don't get it that early.

  7. I personally have used dollar store test and the Early Pregnancy test strips.  Both worked great....i used the dollar store ones with my first PG(and believe you have to be a good couple days late with those) and i used the strips with this PG (it showed the day i was to have my period at 9pm!)

    Best of Luck!

  8. I personally did not have any luck with at home tests.  But I also had a test at the dr's office (urine test) turn up negative too.  It took me five different tests done over a week and a helf before it actually registered as positive.  ( I was pregnant the whole time.  I just had a feeling that I was pregnant and I was getting frustrated that all these negatives were coming up.)  4/5 of the tests were negative and the 5th was positive.

Just so you know, for now and the future, a positive pregnancy test is nearly always correct but a negative result is less decisive and may or may not be correct.  Just follow the directions on your HPT.  Just remember if it comes out negative and your gut tells you otherwise, trust yourself and try another test in a few days or the following week.  Good luck!

  9. I've always used the First Response and they were always accurate.

  10. it's accurate.

yes. the longer you wait the more accurate it it. but typically after you miss your period it should be ok.

my test was negative 4 and 5 days after my missed period then a week and a half later it was positive..cuz we conceived later than normal. It wasnt during ovulation mid cycle it was about a week later. so i either ovulate later than most women or we conceived when i wasnt ovulating. I know this because we went to the docs on what should have been 8 weeks according to the number of weeks from the first day of my last period but we did an u/s to be sure and the baby was only 7 weeks. which totally made sense.

  11. I just found out today I was pregnant. I went to the doctor, but I found out first from First Response.  It works.  Good luck.
