For you drummers out there, matched grip or jazz grip?

Yes, I mean traditional grip, not jazz.

  1. You mean, matched or traditional? There's a ton of different stick grips.

    Depends on the music you're trying to play. For jazz, I prefer lighter sticks for the faster pieces, or brushes for the softer ballads(along with traditional/double traditional grip. Yes, I do double traditional. It works wonders on brushes).

    For basically everything else, I rock out these huge sticks that would be considered an 8b in "vic firth" language. They're old, thick, a bit heavy, and have a good reach, but they were my dad's, so they're good. =D

    And of course, matched.

    So it all depends. Do what's comfy for ya. Work on both to develop speed and coordination all around.
