  1. We were in the throws of passion and he said to me "Do you really want to know how to help me let go of my past,.... Marry Me!" I knew that if he asked me I was going to say yes but I didn't expect him to have the nerve. I guess he showed me :)

It was a wonderful, intimate moment that we shared and I'll never forget it.

  2. He was out of town for a week and basically dropped hints for the entire week.  I knew it was coming so much so that I shopped for rings that week while he was gone.  He popped it that night when he got home lying on the couch.  No knee.

  3. I knew it was coming because we always said stuff like "when we get married" and " at our wedding..."  but I didn't know when he would actually ask and we'd make it official.

  4. I knew mine wa coming too.  It was in his car.  I had already picked out the ring at Wal-Mart.  But I think it was a very humbling process for us.  Everyone thought we were going to do it big, but we didn't.

  5. I was expecting it cause i happen to see the receipt for my engagement ring.

  6. I was with my husband from when I was 16 and he was 17/18.  We dated steady for 2 years, he asked me to live with him when I was 18, shortly after that we talked about marriage and it just kinda happened.   Later on when I was 19 he got an ring and proposed to me in front of his family.  It was more for them than for us, we had agreed to get married before that so it wasnt an suprise. But we both knew what we wanted and we are an very logical couple and talk about everything before we do it.   We talked about having kids before we got preg with our first child we planned it down to the month mostly.

We still talk about how things we want to happen and plan.  This is something that helps us to keep a good relationship, out of debt and plan for the future.

  7. I knew it was coming. He didn't tell me, but it was obvious. He was so nervous it was cute.

  8. I knew it even though he didn't think I did. Hello he took me to a jewerly store and acted like he was looking at other things then headed toward the engagement and wedding rings when i was on the other side looking at braclets...lol

  9. My boyfriend at the time hinted around and said we are going to be together and i said that's that mean we are going to get married he said i guess it does and i said when lets make a date right now and we did. That was May 12 1979. We been married 29 years

  10. My husband was acting kind of secretive, had to go somewhere after work and would see me for dinner, wanted to go see my mom for something, that kind of stuff. I felt it, but wasn't sure when it would happen. It was April Fool's Day!! We were having a late dinner and actually talking about Divorce. My husband reached up on top of the fridge (where he hides everything from me, i am only 5'3" haha) and grabbed down a box, this was it, i knew it!! He held the box to me and said "Nina, would you do me the honor to be my wife" I took the box and saw the prettiest little modest ring (we're not wealthy by any means) I looked at him and started to cry, "YES!!" I said, he looked in the box, said "what the h**l is that?" took the box and ring, threw the ring away ... and pulled a 1 carat diamond with 2 .2 carat diamonds on either side wedding band (that actually belonged to his deceased father's grandmother) and said "This is more your style" ... THAT is when I started balling! We called everyone in the family that night, and most of them already knew :P he was a stinker, got in cahoots with my family (my grandma actually have him the ring that was initially given to me). Come to find out he went to my grandfather (who is like my dad ... he's a pawn broker with lots of guns mind you he is a retired marine recon) and knelt before him and asked for my hand. **sigh** I love thinking about this story. He's the best! And now, our baby is due on April 1st of 2009! the tricks I plan to pull on him ;)

  11. When my husband proposed I was running a coffee shop. I had to be to work by 4 every morning, so I would go to bed before him and wake up at 3:15 am. He had always said he didn't believe in marriage, and I wasn't expecting a proposal EVER, which I didn't mind since I'm not particularly "girlie".

Well, one night when he came to bed, he kept trying to tell me something, but I was so tired that I just kept rolling over and hitting him with my pillow. A few hours later when I got up, I saw him watching me from the bed and I remembered him trying to wake me. I apologized for being so tired the night before and asked him what he had said (assuming that he wanted me to pick something up from the store after work). With the most cavalier attitude he yawned, stretched, and said, "Oh, yeah, that. Nothing too important, I was just wondering if you would do me the honor of being my wife." I almost died! Of course I said yes, and we bought the ring together later that week (he has terrible taste) and we have been married for 5 years.

It may not be the most romantic story, but it is one I never get tired of telling and one my friends never get tired of hearing! :)

  12. Well my hubby stayed in the barracks on base at the time. He was about to go on deployment. I was dropping him off he told me to hold up and stay in the car. He said he had to get something for me out of his room. I'm thinking there is nothing his room he is about to leave for Iraq. Well I started thinking and i was like oh my gosh...... He is gonna propose!!!So there I was in the car preparing myself and trying to gather myself so I could look really suprised. Well he came back to the car and had a hoodie on and took a little box out of his pocket. They were rings he asked me did i know what type of rings they were. I was like um.... I don't know so I wouldn't ruin the suprise and he was like it's an engagement set. He asked would I marry him:] Of course I said yes yup yup an woman't intuition never lies.

  13. Mine was totally unexpected. He invited me for a trip over in New Zealand for two weeks, which I gladly accepted. Once there, we went to a fancy restaurant for dinner, and there he proposed to me. I had no clue. We  got married three days after and spend our honeymoon there. It was awesome.

  14. I knew, he had his sister call me and ask me what my ring size was - she used the excuse that she had old jewlery from her ex husband that she wanted to give me. I just knew he was gonna ask. Then on my birthday he proposed to me in front of my parents, my sister, and my kids. I knew it was coming but I was so happy, it was still beautiful

  15. Mine was spontaneous. I had picked out the ring and my husband took it and said he would proposal when he was ready. So the next weekend he had to work, he is a Paramedic, and he called me and said he had to work a double and needed an extra uniform, so I drove out to where he was working which happened to be where we might. I didn't put two and two together. Anyways so I get there and he wants to go out to lunch so I said Yes and he drives me the firestation we meet and got on one knee and asked me. It was the sweetest thing.

  16. Ha ha, my husband, bless his heart can't keep a secret for the life of him! The day before he proposed to me he showed me the ring because he was too excited to wait until he actually proposed. The next day he took me to the mountains and in the snow on New years day he held me in his arms and asked me to marry him. It was totally romantic but VERY much expected! :)

  17. We went ring shopping three months before he proposed and we had talked about getting married, so I knew it was coming. But he completely shocked me and proposed in the most wonderful and romantic way.  He gave hints throughout the day but they were so subtle that most of them I only understood in hindsight.  It was absolutely perfect.

  18. at his brithday party. it was so sweet when he said now i have found someone i dont want to live without .i am 30 years old today and  so ready to live my true LIFE. the one has was destined to me and the one i ve been waiting for . then he called my name and said will you marry me ? in public, his birthday party . i was so shocked and embarrassed and happy and what not . i felt many things i didnt see him it coming it was sweet . i could only say yes .5 years now we are going strong.

  19. We had several conversations about getting married before we actually made the decision to do it. So, it was expected that this was what things were moving towards. We decided together, there was no formal "proposal".
