Question:

For your baby shower did you do a gift registry?

The other day my husband and I were talking to his mother about the baby shower and how we wanted to do a registry. His mother and grandmother are both totally against the idea, saying that it's rude to ask or tell people what you want. The reason I wanted to do a registry was to make sure everyone was on the same page as far as who was getting what and the nursery theme. I'm obsessive compulsive, and things must match or some what go together nicely. I don't want to be the kind of person that takes all the stuff that's mismatched back to the store. Is a gift registry really that bad?

  1. Everyone I know registers for baby showers! I don't think it's rude at all. In fact, it makes my life a lot easier to pick something I KNOW the new mommy will like. I registered at my shower, and got a nice mix of items on, and not on my registry. It definitely helps when decorating the room! Do what you want, and ignore everyone else's comments.

  2. I tried to do a gift registry but it didn't really work out because that was my first time doing one and I didn't know what I was doing.

  3. NO NOT AT ALL. Some stores will give you nice gifts when registering with them. I would deff. do it there are times when people can't come to the shower becasue there from far away they can go on the website and pick something out that you need and it will be delivered at your door. I don't think it's rude at all. You don't want to get 5 bottle warmers or 5 highchairs. It's like getting a ton of toasters at your wedding. Explain to your mother and grandmother it's like a wish list of things you need for the baby and people don't have time to go look for things now they want to know what you want grab it and go. Good luck.

  4. NO!  I did one.  I think thats an old fashioned concept, I have never met anyone who didnt do one actually- people are very picky about what they want for their baby, and they should be!  I didnt want people to waste their money buying me things I didnt want or wouldnt use.  People who love and care about you guys will understand, but do what makes you comfortable and happy.  Good luck!

  5. I had a gift registry for mine and it helped so much. Most of my family is spread out and they actually thanked me because it helped them know what i had and what i didnt and the theme for my son and other little things like that. Plus they didnt double up on anything he got so i didnt have to return anything. I am the same way with the having to match also. i hope this helps and good luck

  6. Well I'm only 13, but when my mom was having my sister she did have a gift registry...

  7. A gift registry really helps especially if you are the one trying to buy something for the new mommy and that if your wondering what to get them and that way if someone has bought it then you most likely wont get many doubles of stuff and have to take it back and all that jazz
