Forage finches do they make good pets?

i would love a pet finche but i know nothing about birds where should i start

I have never heard of Forage Finches,all Finches forage for their food!!

Basically all Finches eat Millet,Canary,and Niger seed,even small Sunflower.

They also like seeding Grasses.

The best ones for a beginner are Zebra Finches and Bengalese,sometimes called Social finches.

If you are to keep them in a Budgie type cage then only one pair is adequate,but if you can build an aviary then you can have more.

But first buy a book on Finches then you  will get a better idea on what you want and what is involved in keeping birds.

Who has time to read a full book on a little finch? What would be best is go to your local pet shop, I suggest petsmart, and tell them you want a finch but you don't know how to care for one. They will tell you everything you need to know. It can become friendly but not as easily as a budgie or cockatiel(cockatiel's easiest and its a good first timers bird). Just spend quality time with it every day.
