Force India becomes the second fastest team at the first pre-season test session in Valencia
The first pre-season test session took place in Valencia starting from February 1 until February 3, 2011. After three days of testing, Force India finished in 2nd place as a team according to the official time sheets.
Adrian Sutil finished in second place behind Lotus Renault GP’s Robert Kubica and it seems that this was quite an impressive result for the team especially because of the fact that they were not even using their new car in this session.
The team used its 2010 chassis for the session and proved that they are trying their best to become one of the best in the sport and they are improving as each year passes by.
Force India’s boss Vijay Mallya recently revealed in Scotland that Paul di Resta is going to be the new driver for the team and it is believed that Paul is going to be one to watch in 2011 as the team claims that he is one of the best new coming drivers
the sport has produced.
Other than that, the team also revealed that Nico Hulkenberg will be the team’s reserve/test driver for the 2011 Formula 1 season. Nico Hulkenberg drove for Williams in his debut season in 2010 and proved that he has the ability to perform alongside the
top running drivers even though he does not have the best car on the grid.
Nico scored a pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2010 with a time that was a second faster than the rest of the top running drivers.
Nevertheless, Force India are satisfied with the results and they believe that the team is going to be even better in terms of statistics in 2011.
“It felt good to be in the car again after a few months away! Everything went pretty smoothly, as we expected with the VJM03, so we could complete the work we wanted to do,” said Force India’s Adrian Sutil.
The team stated that they acquired the required data during these 3 days and they are satisfied with the tyre compounds introduced by Pirelli for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“Paul and Nico had collected a lot of data on the tyres in the previous two days, so my aim today was to continue this work on alternative set-ups and fuel loads. We got all the information we needed and I feel like we understand the tyre performance pretty
well now,” Adrian added.
It is going to be interesting to see their new car as well and since the team has gathered some vital information during the first pre-season test session, the team will benefit from the data and it is believed that the new Force India might obtain even
better results.
