Force India believe the team is doing well to move forward – Formula 1 news
Force India’s drivers believe that the team is doing well and moving forward in its progress towards improved competitiveness.
Force India has not performed as well as they would have liked to in the 2012 year. The level of competitiveness in the season has been so high that quite a few teams have been found struggling to keep up.
Force India finished sixth in the Constructors’ Championship last year and were hoping to move into the top five in 2012.
Things did not go their way as they struggled to compete with their direct rivals Sauber and Williams.
Both of those teams have shown pretty good skill and performance in the current season. Pastor Maldonado of Williams has been able to secure his maiden Grand Prix win a great achievement while Sergio Perez was able to get his first podium finish.
Force India drivers have failed to achieve either of the feats achieved by their rivals, yet they are convinced that the team will make a forward progress.
Paul di Resta retires during the British GP on the second lap while Nico Hulkenberg his team-mate fell out of points in the final laps of the race.
“Valencia we were very strong and in up and coming events we should be relatively optimistic that we can do something,” di Resta told AUTOSPORT. “I think we have made step forward.”
“The teams around and about us started very well but we are catching up and so long as we can keep the progression and the level going... the guys are working hard and trying hard to understand it all,” he added.
Hulkenberg said that the team has made a step-by-step improvement. Valencia performance was good but there were a few cars in front which dropped out which would have been in front. Still the team is getting better. Force India is also getting better he
added and said that it is important to improve if the team wants to compete with Sauber and Williams in the season.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the coming races. The next race is in Germany almost a week from now.
