Force India delays 2012 drivers’ line-up until end of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Force India’s owner Vijay Mallya has decided to finalise their 2012 drivers’ line-up only after the 2011 Formula 1 season ends.
The Silverstone-based team currently lies 6th on the constructors’ standings with a lead of 14 points from Sauber-Ferrari.
In an exclusive interview with Formula1.com ahead of the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix, Mallya clearly acknowledged Adrian Sutil’s potential and his contribution to the team’s progress. He expressed his satisfaction with Sutil’s performance and his keenness
to have him as a part of Force India for the upcoming year.
He said, “They are all my friends- I respect them, they respect them and that’s the way it’s going to be.”
The British driver, Paul di Resta who with a remarkable performance at the Singapore Grand Prix has also proved that he is no short of talent. The 25-year-old had put up an amazing show on the otherwise difficult Marina circuit due to his good tyre strategy
and excellent driving pace.
Commenting on Paul di Resta’s performance, Mallya said, “He is very committed to the team but more importantly he is got talent and it shows. So I am very happy!”
After Resta’s commendable performance at the Singapore race, it is believed there are fair chances that he might be retained in the team for next year which leaves the contest open between Adrian Sutil and Kimi Raikkonen.
Vijay Mallya, however has not confirmed anything as yet, neither has he given any hints.
“I have told them, please don't bother me about driver choices right now,” Mallya told Autosport.com. “We will focus on getting a good position in the constructors' and we will talk about everything else later.”
As for the 28-year-old German driver, he is concentrating more on his racing tactics for the remaining races of the season at the moment. He understands that the only way to stick around Force India is by performing well.
Let’s see how the team performs in the upcoming races at Japan and Korea and later at the Indian Grand Prix.
