Force India driver Adrian Sutil admits car pace was good in Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has recently admitted that his car pace during the Canadian Grand Prix was good but due to an accident in the closing laps, he could not stay on the circuit until the end of the race.
He also mentioned that his retirement from the Montreal race was not good and he wanted to finish all laps of the race over there.
Sutil suffered an accident at turn seven of the Canadian racetrack shortly after the restart. By taking the turn, he lost his car’s rear wing and due to that, he did not have a complete control on his car, touching the sidewall and retiring from the race.
He admitted that the team had a good chance to make some points in Canada, but when the suspension was broken after the two-hour break, he had to face risks and lost his covering positions as well.
The German said that everything went wrong for him in the race. He had a poor start to the Canadian race weekend, as he was slapped with a drive through penalty for overtaking Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg under the safety car.
Sutil discussed his race and added, “Vettel slowed down the pack so much, and I almost had to stop. My wing was damaged but the car felt OK and my pace was still good. I caught Alguersuari and I decided to take the risk of switching early to slicks. He slowed
down on the straight because he thought he had a puncture, so that is something that I was surprised about.”
The 28-year-old driver also discussed Jenson Button’s performance and said he did a great job. The race result was very unexpected for everyone, as Button won the race despite having to go six times through the pitstops.
After a disappointing race in Montreal, Sutil is hoping for a successful race in the upcoming Valencia Grand Prix which is scheduled to be held next weekend. Let’s see how he fares in Europe.
