Force India driver Adrian Sutil believes Valencia is not as exciting as Monaco – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has recently stated after reaching Spain for the European Grand Prix that the circuit in Valencia is not as ‘exciting’ as Monte Carlo in Monaco.
However, many Formula 1 drivers believe that both of the tracks are equally competitive and exciting.
“To be honest the track is not one of my favourites. The lap is made up mainly of straights and hairpins so it’s not the most challenging place to go racing. Although the walls are close, it doesn’t really feel like a street circuit and it’s nowhere close
to racing in Monaco,” said Sutil.
He added that he had a pretty good time racing at the circuit in 2010 despite some problems during the qualifying session but in the end, he scored the 6th place which was quite good for the team statistically.
Other than that, he stated that the Drag Reduction System might have a positive effect on the overtaking rate of the track this year.
“In the past it was always very difficult to overtake in Valencia, even with such long straights. That problem should be solved this year with the DRS available and I expect there to be much more overtaking in the race,” he said.
His teammate Paul di Resta on the other hand stated that he cannot talk about the track since he has only completed one practice session there which was in 2010 as a result of which, he did not get to enjoy the track at its full.
However, he stated that he did enjoy the time he drove on the track and it did not take him much time to learn it either.
Di Resta also agreed with his teammate by saying that the long straights of the circuit will be the highlight section of the track keeping in mind that the DRS will play a positive role at this weekend’s race and hopefully make overtaking much easier for
the drivers.
Both of the drivers are hoping to score some good results as the track plays to the strengths of the Force India car.
