Force India driver Adrian Sutil delighted at Monaco Grand Prix show – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has said that it was a great time for him on the track in the recently held Monaco Grand Prix.
Sutil successfully finished his run in the seventh spot after a difficult start to the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He discussed his race in Monte Carlo and said that he tried to move on the grid with only one stop. However, after 20 laps of the race he felt that the tyres would not last the entire race distance, so he was pushed to take a second stop.
The 28-year-old driver added that if he adopted a one-stop strategy, then he could have finished at the sixth place, because he was very close to the frontrunners of the race at that moment. However, he admitted that taking the second stop was the right
decision of the team.
Despite everything, he is satisfied with the race progress that he made at the Monte Carlo street track.
He mentioned, “After my little kiss with the wall at the Tabac corner, I had a puncture and was extremely lucky to get into the pits straight away to change my tyres again. So I did not lose too many positions. Then the safety car came out and actually the
race was red flagged.”
The German said that it was a very nice feeling to have a great result for the team after a disappointing start to the ongoing season.
He also discussed the red flag situation due to a crash during the closing laps of the race.
He said, “I didn't directly benefit from it because I changed my tyres before the red flag. A few other cars did benefit a lot because they actually got a free pit stop. I think it's a good idea to have a look at that rule.”
Sutil’s teammate Paul di Resta was also faring well at the Monte Carlo track. However, because of the race restart, he was unable to finish amongst points.
After a successful Monaco Grand Prix, Sutil is looking forward to another positive race weekend in the Canadian Grand Prix scheduled to take place on June 12, 2011.
