Force India driver Adrian Sutil says anything is possible in 2011 Singapore GP – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has said that anything is possible at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix scheduled for September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The car that the team has designed for this year’s Formula 1 season did not turn out to be so effective at tracks like Spa and Monza. Nonetheless, the Silverstone-based outfit has still managed to secure a sixth spot for itself and currently stands at 36
points in the constructors’ standings for this season with just a point’s advantage over Sauber.
Sutil said, “We overtook Sauber in the Championship, which is good, and we need to build on that and get some breathing space.”
The VJM04 car is more suited to tracks that require high downforce and hence, it is expected that the Marina Bay Circuit, a high downforce track, will most likely turn out to be more suitable for their cars.
Force India are expected to be stronger in this race than they have been in the races held so far, especially at Spa and Monza.
The 28-year-old German said, “The low downforce configuration of Monza did not really work that well for us so Singapore should be better.” He further added, “It's the opposite of how it was before: we are now more competitive on downforce circuits, so we
should be quite strong. With a good strategy I think anything is possible there.”
The Silverstone squad seems very excited at the moment about their next race at Singapore for the reason that it is going to be a night race and racing at night means more thrill and excitement. In addition, there will be a huge Indian community present
there to support the team.
For Paul di Resta, the team’s other driver, this is going to be his first visit to the Marina Bay Circuit so he definitely needs some time to get used to the track.
He is hoping that he gets enough time to learn as much as he can. He said, “We will also need to keep any eye on the weather because any rain storms could hamper things. I just hope we get some dry weather while I learn the track.”
Let’s see how Force India perform this weekend in the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
