Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg believes they can beat Williams – Formula 1 news
Force India driver, Nico Hulkenberg believes that they have got the potential to beat their main rival Williams in the 2012 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship.
The Silverstone based team is currently standing at 8th place in the constructors’ championship with 46 points. Although, they have a strong lead over Toro Rosso, however, they are behind Williams in the rankings.
Nevertheless, Hulkenberg is very much confident that they will be more competitive in the second half of the current season and will be able to close the gap to the teams in the front.
Moreover, he said that their developmental process has proved out to be quite successful in the season so far and they have managed to explore some great potential in their car. In addition, he said that they are presently just 7 points behind Williams and
asserted that they can surely catch up the British team in the season ahead.
Besides, he said that they are not sure about whether they will be able to beat Sauber which has emerged as the strongest mid-field contender in the forthcoming races or not. Nonetheless, he said that they will try their best to keep on pushing harder so
as to secure a reasonable position in this year’s championship fight.
“We already showed last year that our development speed is very competitive and I do not see a reason why we shouldn't be able to repeat that again,” he said. “We're only seven points shy of Williams and I think we can catch them. I don't know whether it's
possible to catch Sauber. It will be difficult, but the whole team will try their very best, that´s for sure.”
“Pace-wise we are still behind Sauber, Williams and all frontrunners. This means, that we have the chance to beat Williams, Sauber or Mercedes when our weekend goes completely smoothly and they struggle,” he added.
Moreover, it will be important to mention that Force India have performed quite convincingly in the season until now and are hoping to come up stronger in the remaining nine grands prix after the August break.
Let’s see how they show up in the Belgian Grand Prix.
