Force India driver Paul di Resta: We are still in a strong position – Formula 1 news
Force India-Mercedes driver Paul di Resta has said that the team is still in a strong position after his disappointing race on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Silverstone race circuit.
Di Resta took a very strong start to the British Grand Prix, where he successfully finished his Friday Free Practice session on the Silverstone circuit.
He started his race at the sixth place on the opening grid. The 25-year-old driver participated in Sunday’s race with hopes of putting up a good show among the strong contenders. However, di Resta took a disastrous pitstop after a miscommunication between
him and the team. Due to that, he lost important time in the pitlane since his teammate Adrian Sutil was expected to come in to have his punctured tyre changed.
Di Resta dropped down in positions due to that and ended up at the 15th place for the team.
The Brit said, “I'll just continue on and try to do what we've been doing and hopefully our luck will turn. It wasn't a fluke lap. We got into Q3 on performance and we did a good job in Q3. As long as we can build on that and do it again at the Nurburgring,
it will be satisfying.”
He went on to mention, “It probably wasn't quite as strong as our qualifying performance. We kind of had an idea it would be like that. But we were still in a strong position. We were 13 seconds up the road from a Renault that scored points and I'm sure
we could have continued like that.”
On the other hand, his teammate Sutil finished his British Grand Prix at the 11th place for the team. He had a trouble-free race at the Silverstone race circuit and completed his run ahead of the Renault’s Vitaly Petrov, who came at 12th
place.
After the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, the Force India team is hoping for better results from both of their drivers in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
