Force India driver Paul di Resta aims fight back in 2013 - Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that they are aiming to fight back in the 2013 Formula 1 season despite facing an unfortunate ending in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Di Resta believes that he was very strong in the season finale behind the wheel of one of the most competitive cars in the field. However, unluckily he caught out with the aquaplaning and hit the barriers at Subida dos Boxes which eventually ended his race.
“We were coming through very strongly - we were the quickest car on the track at that point, really motoring,” Di Resta said. “I was catching Michael at 2 seconds a lap, and that's what I needed to do.”
“And then unfortunately I got caught out with aquaplaning. I did nothing different, just lit up the back wheels and hit the wall very hard,” he added.
Besides, he said that the conditions became too difficult for him to drive and asserted that even his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg commented on the radio that the track is getting undriveable.
Even though, he said that he could have attained good result for his team in the last race if he hadn’t faced the issue. Nevertheless, he expressed that he is not feeling upset and is very much satisfied with his overall performance during the season.
Furthermore, he said that they earnestly need to learn from their mistakes which they did during this year in order to come up stronger in the coming season.
It will be important to note that Hulkenberg is going to move to Sauber in the next season while the Scottish driver has shown desire to continue his career in the Silverstone based team.
In addition, the 26-year-old said that they have got the potential to achieve more in the next year for which they need to work harder.
“It's been a difficult end to the year for various things that we had,” he said. “I think the team can definitely come back fighting hard!”
Di Resta came 14th in this year’s drivers’ championship and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the next season.
