Force India driver Paul di Resta says 2011 Italian Grand Prix was best for him – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that the 2011 Italian Grand Prix was the best for him, as he successfully finished his race in points at the Monza racetrack on September 11.
Di Resta added that he is happy to have another strong weekend in the 2011 Formula 1 season in Italy after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Brit talked to the media and stated that it is a fact that the Monza race was difficult, but he fought well under dry conditions and finally completed his run in the points.
The Force India team overtook team Sauber in the 2011 constructors’ championship after getting four points from di Resta in the Italian race weekend recently.
Sauber were at the sixth place in the championship battle before the Monza race. They were unlucky with mechanical failures during the race and due to that, they could not finish their runs in the points.
After the Italian race, Force India are sitting at the sixth place with 36 points in the title fight.
Talking to reporters, di Resta said, “A couple of cars then got by us quite quickly because they had good straight line speed. As I said, we were fairly aggressive on strategy in stopping early – we were the first to stop, and we stopped the second time
very early, and extended the last stint on the primes. I think it was the best race we could have had.”
He went on to mention, “We did change some things on Saturday morning and found a big benefit, and we improved our long run performance, so it worked out well in the end.”
The 25-year-old driver seems to have improved in terms of performance from the last couple of races of the ongoing season. In the recently held Italian race, he started his run from the 11th position on the opening grid and after
struggling with his car, he ended up in the eighth spot.
The next round of the season will take place on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Let’s see how di Resta performs in Singapore following his strong results in Italy.
