Force India driver Paul di Resta says he wants to be on top at least once in his career – Formula 1
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that he wants to be on top at least once in his Formula 1 career.
Di Resta added that he wants to compete with the current strong rivals including McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and win the F1 title as well.
The Scot discussed with the media that he had a great time in 2006, when he came up against the F1 world champions, Vettel and Hamilton in Formula 3 Euro Series. He stated that he is aiming to be on top of Formula 1 in near future.
The team driver said, “In my F3 team there were four of us: me, Vettel, Kobayashi and van der Garde. I have to say that when he got to Formula One, Sebastian did an incredible job, capitalising on what he had in the best way. Perhaps he would have done the
same thing if he had been in my place in DTM or perhaps not.”
Di Resta added, “The same thing happened with Hamilton, he was a good driver in the minor categories, and when he arrived with a great team straight away it was natural that things went well for him quickly.”
The Force India driver is moving in the right direction from the last couple of races. After a successful 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, he believes he can fight in order to challenge the F1 title in the future.
The Budapest race proved very lucky for him, as the 25-year-old driver closed his gap from the strong teams and ended his Grand Prix at the seventh place. He scored decent points for the Force India team and after a close fight with Toro Rosso’s Sebastien
Buemi in the ending laps, he finally came ahead of him at the Hungaroring race circuit.
His teammate Adrian Sutil was not very competitive in the Hungarian race weekend. He started his race from the eighth position on the racetrack and ended up in the 14th spot for the team.
Let’s see how di Resta manages the last eight rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season following his positive Budapest race.
