Force India driver Paul di Resta thinks Sauber are very hard to beat – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta thinks that their main rival, Sauber-Ferrari are very hard to beat in the 2012 Formula 1 World Constructors’ Championship.
The Silverstone based team has been deemed as one of the most competent midfield contender in the field and it surely deserves to be recognised as one. Moreover, they are currently standing at 7th position in the constructors’ rankings and have
performed quite convincingly in the season so far.
Besides, the team principal of Force India, Vijay Mallya has recently said that they are not contended with their present position in the standings and are positively looking forward to attain competitive results in the upcoming races so as to secure 6th
place in this year’s championship fight.
However, Di Resta has said that he is not quite sure that whether they will be able to pass Sauber in the forthcoming races as the Swiss team seems very strong. He also said that if they want to beat the Hinwil based team, they must push really harder and
will need a very good fortune.
“We're obviously up against a massive task when you look at what Sauber achieved in Monza, and Vijay is saying he still wants sixth,” he said. “It's an unlikely position for us to achieve now, but it's not out of reach. It would take a lot of luck and a
lot of progress on our behalf to do that.”
Nevertheless, he said that they can achieve a better position in the next season as they will come up stronger with some more updates in their car. In addition, he said that they have already moved their focus on the development of the coming year’s car
so as to emerge as a tough competitor.
“I believe most of the focus has changed onto next year's car. I think that some teams have probably changed quicker than others while the teams still battling for the championship are still developing, which is like every year,” he added.
Above and beyond, he said that after securing good result in the previous race, they are confidently aiming to score more points in the night race in Singapore this weekend.
