Force India driver Paul di Resta’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
The current DTM champion Paul di Resta is giving better results to Force India-Mercedes team in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Di Resta made his debut in Formula 1 in 2010. He was selected as the test driver of Force India. In the end of the last season, the team confirmed him as a race driver with his teammate Adrian Sutil for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
After learning the different features of the VJM04 car and testing the new Pirelli tyres in the 2011 pre-season test session, he took part in his debut in Formula 1 racing with hopes of getting positive results from the initial stages of the ongoing season.
The Scot successfully finished his first race with Force India F1 team in the top ten positions. After starting from the 14th place on the grid, he came at the 10th position in the final race classifications in Australia.
The Albert Park race results were quite satisfactory for the team, as he successfully score one point during his first race with them.
After the Australian race weekend, he was again at the 10th place in the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix.
He had a fight with Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi and Renault’s Nick Heidfeld during the Chinese race in the closing laps. After struggling during the Chinese Grand Prix, he finished his run in the 11th spot at the Shanghai International
Circuit.
The 2011 Turkish Grand Prix proved unlucky for di Resta, as he retired from the race after completing 44 laps due to some technical issues in his car.
The 25-year-old driver was unable to complete his Spanish race in the top ten positions following his impressive start to the season. After struggling on the Pirelli tyres, he ended his race in the 12th spot at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The team driver put Force India again on the 10th place in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix after the Spanish race weekend.
The Force India driver pushed back to the midfield in the Canadian Grand Prix due to an accident in the closing laps of the race. He came at the 18th place in the final race classifications following the better qualifying
round’s results at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit.
Di Resta did not have a good race weekend in the 2011 European Grand Prix. The team driver started his Valencia race from the 12th place on the racetrack and finished his run behind Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi, who was at the 13th
place.
In the following Grand Prix, the Force India driver had a positive start, as he secured his sixth place for the race day at the Silverstone race circuit. Due to an unsupportive role of his car, he could not finish his race in good position and came at the
15th place in the end.
Di Resta’s results of the 2011 German Grand Prix were disappointing for the team, as he failed to show his best performance on the grid among the strong rivals.
The Scot impressed the viewers and his team in the Hungarian Grand Prix, by finishing the race in the seventh place following his disappointing last few races.
After the Budapest race, the team admitted that di Resta really worked hard throughout the race weekend and that he made a lot of improvements in terms of performance during that.
