Force India feel pleased to give James Calado a test run at Silverstone circuit – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal, Vijay Mallya has said that they are feeling pleased to give James Calado, who is presently taking part in GP2 Series, an opportunity to drive in the Young Driver Test at Silverstone circuit.
Calado has been considered as one of the most hardworking and talented drivers in GP2 and he will share the driving responsibilities with the race drivers of the Silverstone based squad, Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil, in the YDT.
It will be important to mention that the 24-year-old conducted a straight-line aerodynamic test with Force India at the end of this June before the British Grand Prix. Therefore, he has a pretty good experience of running an F1 car.
Mallya has expressed that they are very happy to provide Calado with a chance to test their car along with their main drivers in Silverstone. In addition, he admired the talent and determination of the British driver who has made his way into the sport as
a test driver after graduating from the renowned institution, Racing Steps Foundation.
“We are pleased to give James the opportunity to test with us at Silverstone,” team principal Vijay Mallya said.
“As a graduate of the Racing Steps Foundation, his talent and determination have brought him to our attention and this is the ideal occasion to evaluate him further,” he said.
Besides, he asserted that their main focus is to gather the necessary data in the test to create a better understanding about the new Pirelli tyres.
“The priority this week is to give the team a better understanding of the new Pirelli tyres due to be introduced next week in Budapest,” he added.
He also stated that they are positively looking forward to make the significant developments in their car so as to perform well in the season ahead.
Presently, Force India are standing at 5th place in the constructors’ championship with 59 points. Furthermore, they are ahead of their major rival, McLaren and behind Lotus. It will be exciting to see how they show up in the Hungarian GP which is to be
held at Hungaroring on July 28, 2013.
