Force India hope to secure fifth place finish in 2013 F1 constructors’ championship – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that they are hoping to secure fifth place finish in the 2013 Formula 1 constructors’ championship.
The Silverstone based squad performed tremendously well during the last season and managed to secure 7th place finish in the constructors’ standings. Although, they were aiming to secure 6th place finish in the last year’s rankings,
but could not achieve their goal as their major opponent, Sauber were more consistent throughout the season.
Di Resta has said that they are not feeling upset over the result of 2012 and are positively looking forward to perform well in 2013. Besides, he said that their target is to finish fifth in this year’s constructors’ championship.
Furthermore, he said that even though his personal objective is to at least secure sixth position again, but he will try to deliver his best to get anything better than that.
“We're hoping to finish fifth overall in the constructors' championship next season,” di Resta told the Scotsman newspaper. “Personally, my first objective is to at least get back to sixth. Anything more than that would be a bonus.”
Besides, he said that they need to resolve the issues which they faced in the last season in order to attain better results in this year.
“Obviously I won't go into specific details, but the car slowly but surely got worse as the season progressed,” he said.
“It cost us time in Suzuka and in India. We changed the monocoque for Abu Dhabi, but in the end we had to replace the whole chassis, and that cured the problem. Unfortunately, that came right at the end of the season,” he added.
It will be important to note that Nico Hulkenberg has moved to Sauber for 2013 and Force India have not finalised their driver line-up until now. However, Di Resta’s race seat is almost confirmed in his team.
There have been a lot of speculations that Adrian Sutil may join Force India as Hulkenberg’s replacement in this season. Let’s see whether Sutil will be able to drive alongside Di Resta in this year or not.
