Force India hoping for double point finish at 2011 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Force India’s team principal Vijay Mallya has recently stated that he is hoping for a double point finish at this weekend’s 2011 Italian Grand Prix which is expected to take place at the legendary Monza circuit on September 11.
“The target now is to get both drivers in the points and I'm hopeful Monza will give us a chance to do that. The VJM04 worked well at Spa and the drivers were happy with the balance in low downforce trim. That's a good sign for Monza where we take another
step down on the downforce levels,” he said.
Monza is the fastest track on the Formula 1 calendar and the teams are really going to have to push over the limit in order to squeeze out as much performance as they can when it comes to speed this weekend.
With Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta performing pretty well since the past couple of races, he team is hoping of outperforming their closest rivals Sauber who are currently in 6th place in the constructors’ standings just 3 points
ahead of Force India.
Force India have been performing really well this year as the team qualified in some of the Q3 sessions of the qualifying rounds as well as a result of which their race pace is also improving quite steadily.
“I'm fairly optimistic that Monza will suit us. In the past we were very strong there, but we have a different philosophy now and the car has worked well on all circuits,” said di Resta.
Other than that, the team has proved in 2011 that they have the ability of scoring consistent good results keeping in mind that their drivers perform well. Paul di Resta has been doing a fantastic job for the team keeping in mind that this is his debut season
in the sport.
Adrian Sutil on the other hand has been supporting the team a lot in terms of points and it seems that Force India might become the next Sauber of Formula 1 as well as they are producing some pretty good young drivers in the sport.
