Force India owner Vijay Mallya says his team will score plenty of points in future – Formula 1 news
Force India owner Vijay Mallya has said that his team will score plenty of points in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Mallya’s statement comes after both of Force India drivers finished in the points in the season-opening race, the Australian Grand Prix.
“We were confident about our reliability ahead of the first race in Australia, but we were eager to continue work on improving our race pace during the free practice sessions. We can now expect our cars to finish among the top 10 and in the points,” said
Mallya.
Force India drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta finished in 9th and 10th places respectively at the Australian Grand Prix and their new cars looked good statistically. However, the team was unable to give a good performance during
the qualifying session as neither of the two drivers was able to make it to the Q3 session which consists of the 10 fastest drivers.
However, Mallya seems confident about his team’s new car and believes that the team will be able to score more points consistently in 2011.
“Both drivers drove exceptionally well and to score points from the start of the season is very encouraging. We shall be able to make some further developments to our race pace over the coming weekends, although I'm pleased with the progress of the VJM04
and all the hard work by the team at the factory,” he added.
He added that he is looking forward to the upcoming race that is scheduled to take place in Malaysia this weekend as he believes his team will repeat its performance of the season-opening race.
Vijay stated that the Malaysian Grand prix in particular is a very good chance for his team to squeeze out as much points as they can as he thinks that both of his drivers are confident of keeping the momentum.
The upcoming race is going to be quite interesting for the mid-running teams as well as it is going to be a real test of the Drag Reduction System and the balance in terms of performance of each team’s car.
