Force India race seat the only option for Nico Hulkenberg for 2012 – Formula 1 news
Former Williams’ driver Nico Hulkenberg has recently revealed that his only option for a race seat currently is Force India.
He is currently Force India’s driver and even his future race seat at the team is hanging by a thread.
Hulkenberg has driven for the team at various Friday practice sessions in 2011 and it seems that his chances of joining the team as a race driver are quite ambiguous as Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta are also waiting on the team’s decision regarding their
stay.
“[I'm] not sure yet. I hope I can race with Force India but the team will decide not before December, so I must wait. Everyone from Renault down wants to see money (from its drivers),” he said.
Other than that, he confirmed that he is not going to drive for the team at FP1 in Singapore for Force India in order to give the team’s two race drivers more time on the track.
“I will not drive in FP1 in Singapore because the team wants to give Adrian and Paul more track time and I understand and accept the decision,” he added.
Nevertheless, it is quite disappointing to see such a talented young driver being wasted like this mainly because of the fact that he does not have sponsors to support his deal.
He had to go through the very same issue when Williams signed Pastor Maldonado as his replacement mainly because of the fact that the Venezuelan driver was bringing in a major sponsor with him.
This is not how Formula 1 is and right now, these sorts of developments in the sport are devaluing the sport’s credibility.
However, Force India are looking really good this year as they are in 6th place ahead of both Sauber and Toro Rosso. Williams on the other hand are currently in 9th place in the constructors’ standings
but it seems that there is going to be a tough battle between the mid-running teams in the last couple of races.
